End of Summer

Hi everybody! Did anybody miss me while I was away? Well even if you didn't, I have returned from my trip down to Myrtle Beach with the family. I enjoyed the week down there. Plenty of swimming, a day trip to Charleston, and going to the newly-opened Hard Rock Park. And on the whole I had no major problems with any of my family members. But I did the driving home today and man it is a long drive. Somewhere like 9 hours. I didn't mind all that as much as when I got north of Fredericksburg and traffic on I-95 became absolutely ricockulous. And there are so many idiots it seems on 95 and the Capital Beltway. I'm glad I don't have to drive that area very much. My sympathies to anyone who frequents the loop.

Anyway, this week I realized how much I enjoy the beach. Especially those south of Cape Hatteras where you pick up the gulf stream and get much warmer water. But I like it all. I like the constant sound of the waves breaking on the beach. I like the sun and the sand (though I could've done without the sunburn). I mean just the other night, Thursday I think, I must've walked like 2 or 3 miles down the beach just enjoying it. Also, there was a bar near where I was staying and they have an open-air stage and it's great, you can sit on the beach and listen to the music. Then there are some people shooting off fireworks so I can enjoy those. So even toward the end of the week when I kind of got tired of swimming in the ocean I still enjoyed the beach.

I also liked the other stuff besides the swimming. One day my whole family took a day trip down to Charleston just to wander around the city. I could tell that my brother and sister didn't enjoy it too much but I got to indulge the history nerd within. Visiting the city where the Civil War really kicked off and also seeing all the old and colorful buildings. There's a few pictures we took and I'll post them sometime later if interested. I also have some beach pictures too.

Hard Rock Park is a new amusement park themed around rock music, obviously. I enjoyed it, particularly the Led Zeppelin coaster where the ride is set to Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love. I think, though, that the park will take a little while to expand. It has a ton of potential but it's still a bit small for the price you pay. They need to put in a helter skelter so they can use the Beatles' song of the same name.

So anyway, now that I'm back from all that I realize how little time I have left at home. Basically three more weeks until I move into the Mill. Time definitely flies. Next weekend I'm going to Clifton for some wrasslin' and seeing friends and also working on club stuff. That should be a fun weekend. Then I've gotta make sure I'm ready to move to Harrisonburg. I know we need some cooking supplies because I don't plan on having microwaved meals or whatnot everyday. I may get a few things but I might see about having Sergio get some. I know, I know, that could be a huge mistake considering how little domestic work he knows about but if need be I think Kevin, Jimmy, and I will take him to a store and make him buy some so he can contribute here. I've also gotta mail my August rent and tell HEC to give us some electricity. Oh so much to do and it's gonna move so fast now. But I think it'll be some great times.

I'd like to do some kind of get together with people moving back down to Harrisonburg before classes start. I think it could be fun. And I'd like to enjoy the week and a half or so before classes start. I'm looking forward to what I'm taking this semester but well, let's be honest (we're all adults here). Whether I like my classes or hate them, it's gonna involve me putting in some serious work and that's not always the most fun thing to do. And in my stream of consciousness I've realized that I also need to start textbook shopping. Oh how much fun!

Well, I think that's about it for me. I know it's not terribly late but I did drive about 8 or 9 hours today so I'm tired and thinking sleep may be in my near future. Then this week I'll need to get to work on all this stuff I need to do to get ready for August. Hopefully soon I'll have a few vacation pictures up here for your viewing pleasure. In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and reading what I have to say.
