Music I'm really into right now (not necessarily new stuff, mostly stuff I already had but didn't give a proper listen because I was too busy listening to The Pipettes and Tapes 'n Tapes on repeat):
Sereena Maneesh: LOVE LOVE LOVE
Be Your Own Pet: another LOVE. come on, they have a song about a bicycle with lyrics like "we are two wheels, baby... we're fast, we're having a blast" Also, I think this is what it would sound like if Sleater-Kinney and The Gossip had a baby. They take elements from both bands I like and bring them together, definitely not as good as either band, but I still like them.
The Magic Numbers: Kind of a guilty pleasure since I know they're not doing anything new or innovative, they're just enjoyable. I'm sure if they do a second album, it will suck. But that's how things go sometimes.
Destroyer: Saw them at Pitchfork. I love his voice.
Danielson: Ever since JP and I saw them at Pitchfork, I've been a fan. I think it took seeing them live to love them. I wasn't impressed before
Beirut: I normally hate stuff like this, but for some reason, I'm really liking all the weird. Definitely have to be in the mood to listen to Beirut though
Girl Talk: This isn't for everyone. It gets old a bit fast, but it's fun sometimes. I can't listen to it too much. The Mash-ups are really fun because most people would know every single original song and it's really amusing to hear them mashed together. It gets a little spastic, though, because one song will have about 10 other songs mixed up in it. Sometimes, I want to say just pick a few!
The new Rapture: So, I'll admit I was expecting something a little different from them. But I love Echoes and I love this. It's different from Echoes, but not enough where you can say, they're trying to do something different. But sometimes, you have to stick with what works. Hey, Death Cab's been doing it for years.
And I still can't stop listening to The Pipettes. I've been listening to them at least once a day since July. Ridiculous. At least it's not just one song, I love the entire album.
