Hello, Intertubes! I'm inside you and playing with you!... with my words!
Also, I have no clue what I'm doing here. How exhilarating!
Here's the preliminary book club list we have going. It can obviously be changed or augmented and the order is incidental.
-Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day
-White's The Once and Future King
-Vonnegut's The Sirens of Titan
-Dickens' Bleak House
-Stoker's Dracula
Honestly, I'd rather not read Bleak House with any sort of deadline. It's a fine and worthy thing, but I'd rather take my time with it over several months. Perhaps we can read Silas Marner, instead? I have a copy of it and haven't read it. Supposing you haven't, we can add it to the list.
However, this discussion of 19th century literature reminds me; this list lacks fantasy and sci-fi. This makes me sad. Quite sad. Unusually sad. This sadness is an unaccustomed sadness for me. Do you have any ideas of what we can add to the list from those genres? My mind is blank on the question at the moment. I would look at whatever books of the genres I have which I mean to read, but my books are haphazardly arranged in my trunk at the moment and I'm apprehensive about actually opening my trunk. Perhaps Herbert's Dune? It's a foundational classic of sci-fi and I've heard good things about it. Perhaps you have a few in mind you think I'll like?
As soon as we decide what to read (or perhaps we should choose just one book at a time? and simply make broad suggestions of what to read next? Anyway, let's decide what to read first soon, so we can get this going), we should set up some sort of framework for posting/discussing. Also, if I forgot anything at your place/in your car, hold on to it. There's no rush on the external hard drive (though you could tell Annie where the porn is [I believe the folders go Z\other\video , though "other" might not be the folder]), but I would like that back by the next time we see each other.
Also, FRANK THE MOTHERFUCKING GOAT SAYS MY MOOD IS "accomplished". MEGA PROPS TO FRANK.
And I'll add the tag VbZbBc (our initials, then an acronym for book club) to all the posts about this shebang we have until you tell me how we can better organize our hoity toity literary discussion salon.
