It scared the hell out of me!

A week ago tonight, Mao and I were aroused from our much needed beauty rest at 3:40 in the morning to a huge crash. I assumed Muntee had been trying to cook something up and broke a plate or something, so I stumbled out of bed and headed out to the kitchen...no light on in the kitchen. Mao started barking hysterically at one of the windows in the sun room so I switched the kitchen light on and it took me a couple of seconds to realize that one of the windows was completely shattered and there was glass everywhere. At a glance I didn't see a rock or anything that would have pierced through the screen and break the glass so I immediately thought someone was trying to break in. Realizing that if that had been the case, I turned the light off to see if I could see anything outside. Obviously this was in a span of a couple of seconds, but if there had been someone there, I would assume they wouldn't be dumb enough to stare back at me through a broken window. I woke Muntee up and called the cops and waited, heart racing. The cops looked around and asked if we had been rowdy to provoke any neighbors or if we'd notice any neighbors drinking. Turns out someone threw a computer hard drive at the window so the cops took it to see if they could get any prints from it, after picking it up without gloves of course...typical. Anyway, after the cops left, Jesse and I went outside and I noticed that our back neighbor's lights were all off, they're NEVER off. I can wake up at 4 in the morning and some light will be on in the house. The next morning, Jesse noticed a twig in the pool, so I took it out and found the branch that it belonged to which happened to be right by the connecting wall to the back neighbor. We can't figure out why they would do that, I've never even seen them and haven't done anything to provoke anyone. Our landlord seems to think it might have been an ex-tenant that decided to move out early, not pay rent for a couple of months and is crying now because she's not getting her complete portion of the deposit back because of some damage.

I guess I'll call sometime soon to see if I can get an update on our case...so much for moving to "posh" scottsdale huh? I'm still enjoying the house and I wouldn't necessarily say that I feel unsafe, but I guess I'm a little paranoid now.

Other than that, and our first electric bill (!!! having a pool is expensive!!!) things are going well, work is going well, and mao hasn't been waking me up in the middle of the night to pee for two days straight now (knock on wood).

I hope everyone is doing okay.
