Outlander 1-7 The Wedding Thoughts and Screencaps & POLL♡
This episode!!!!! The one I've been waiting for since I first heard that they were making the book into the TV series. And it did not disappoint. Oh, at first I thought it was going to be a flop! When they went straight to the wedding night... oh my god. you're not serious... Thank god for flashbacks. Because most of my favorite scenes were there.
1) Jamie's conditions and talk with Murtagh
2)Murtagh finding Claire drunk and getting her dressed
It didn't seem like a big deal in the episode, but it is one of the things Claire in the book and I like Murtagh so :).
3) The scene before they enter the church
4)Jamie's real colors (kilt)
I was expecting a little more bright colors on the kilt. I think the book said crimson. The blue was a bit of a let down, even though I like the color, it is a bit boring - not much impact.
Now, there were somethings not included in the ep which I had loved and wished they had.
In particular -
1)Jamie using his dad's ring (not a key from his sporan, please... ok sort of romantic if you think key to the heart... but if he's going to give her something of his mom's then it's only right to use something of his dad's too.)
2) And come on! Frank and Claire were not married at the registrar! They were married at a church - the exact same church if I'm not mistaken - which was supposed to make it all the more difficult for Claire.
But I enjoyed the rest very much. So, here are some scenes(linked to originals):
All of them discussing how the marriage has to be legally sound and binding for it to work and Jamie giving his conditions. 1) church wedding with priest 2)gown for Claire 3)ohhhh yeah, we'll find that one out later. Definitely not the RING, thank god.
I remember Jamie talking about the priest and how they had to force him to do the wedding. I loved how the one tried to convince him with scripture and Dougal just got sick of waiting! (Reminds me of two men in another show who like to team up like that :D)
So really, Murtagh is the one that found the dress in the book aye? Ned going into the whore house to find one was cute though. And you can't miss Murtagh's "She'll do." :D The way he was fingering that broach... I guess we will find out why later aye?

I'm happy to say, this is one of the scenes I enjoyed more in the TV series than in the book :P

Such a long scene I had to cut quite a bit at the beginning just to make the file small enough to make a gif!
Loved this scene in the book as well. I think they did a good job portraying how she was the one that continued the kiss...♡
OK so this scene came before the others in the ep so I was like wtf?! But still very cute -- Jamie coming into the room where Claire sits in front of the mirror, not quite knowing what to say, Claire just wanting to pass out drunk and Jamie watching her drink up two glasses? or three? in one go. I just couldn't watch XD *headpalm*
Cute little scene againn when he tries to kiss her and she makes him tell her all about his family! What a loooong story it is too!
And then well, they finally kiss and Claire just gets swept away and their marriage is officially consumated but LOL so uncomfortable just hilarious and perfect! Again, I'm *headpalm* and giggling the hold time.
So Jamie goes "was it good for you too?" and Claire goes all silent and Jamie is so hurt or disappointed he sits up and tells her, well they told me that women didn't enjoy it but... And Claire realizes he got the wrong impression. She actually did enjoy it , she just felt sad and guilty because she was being unfaithful to Frank (which reminds me of that scene in ep.1 aye? How upset she was when Frank suggested she might have had a fling?)
"I did enjoy it..."
Claire tries to distract herself by going to get some food... and opens the door to guys relentless teasing! Jamie goes in her stead, takes the teasing in good humor.
Back with Claire, Jamie tells her that he told the guys that she had his heart and was welcome to it. Claire feels a bit uncomfortable with that, maybe. ( I don't remember this from the book. I had the impression Jamie hid his real feelings from her.)
Then we have Jamie talking about what he had been doing before the wedding and Claire talking about the things she remembered and finally the above scenes are revisited!
Claire telling him to take off his shirt and subsequent "love making" !!
Jamie falls asleep and Claire goes down to get leftovers when she meets Dougal... And we find out he is one that can think only with his downstairs brain. (I really don't remember this being in the book, it was a bit more subtle... but the message is the same)
"I am Jamie's wife."
Good thing the other clansman came in(Is that Rupert?)... well unfortunate for him, since he got the punch in the face :P
Claire is melancholy thinking about Frank and her growing feelings for Jamie... And Jamie comes up with his mom's pearls. "These are most precious to me and so are you." (I'm not quoting here - don't have time to check but that's the gist of it aye?) And we have some more love-making.
Morning comes, Jamie is still high and I guess in a way Claire as well. She completely let go and enjoyed herself. Forgetting for a time about Frank.
But, cleaning up the wedding dress, she comes accross Frank's ring that she stuck in her breast at the church and the guilt comes back.
That's it I guess aye. And I guess it's important to remember Claire's feelings for the next ep.
