Let it be over soon...

Hi everyone! I´m finding a wee pit of time to start this post as I take the train to the farther classroom.

I did watch the finale of SPN soon after the last post. I will post separately later about that. I´ve been watching Alienist on Netflix, did some writing on a smutty scene in what could hopefully grow into a novel, and reading a ton of books too. I looked up "good books on kindle unlimited" and started chugging through the list.

First off, When We Believed in Mermaids by Barbara O´Neal. This was ok, but rather strangely written. I figured there was a love story element as soon as a guy got involved, but it ended up being mostly about two sisters and how they each try to deal with their crummy childhood in their own way, separately, but only truely move on when they find eachother again and share their experiences and feelings they had hidden or bottled up. There is a bit of a murder mystery that never really ties in with the plot which was rather sloppy I thought. I gave it 🌟🌟🌟

Secondly, If You Tell, by Gregg Olsen. I gave this one 🌟🌟🌟🌟. This was documentary of a true story of a true sadist and how she made life a living hell to those around her and even ended up killing a few while she was at it. Wow. Really scary. It reminded me that yes, fiction is actually based on real life and there are sick people out there that need to see people suffer to be satisfied. Psychological and physical violence. It was really well researched and written and very engaging. The Flat Share, I mentioned in the previous post also dealt with similar violence in the psychological sense. When we believed... above was more about parental neglect but still traumatizing for the kids.

Monday I started reading The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms. This was not as well written as the one before, but still enjoyable. It was about a mom of two who has a very difficult time after her husband bails all of a sudden but has somehow built up a new life when he comes back again after three years to make amends. She has a chance to take a few weeks off from everything as he spends long overdue time with the kids. She learns basically that life is not just about her kids, and she needs to find happiness of her own. It was light reading with a happy ending. What I enjoyed most was the fact that she was a librarian, and teaching reading at a school. Her daughter was a reluctant reader and the method she found for her daughter and others to get them up to their level by finding books they enjoyed was very interesting and I could relate, having a reluctant reader daughter of my own. Her references to various books and movies, some of which I have read or seen recently was enjoyable.

Considering When we believed was about neglectful parents, and If You Tell was about a sick parent, both which caused the kids trauma, the message that giving your life to child rearing and neglecting yourself is not good either ws an interesting and refreshing point, both as a parent and a wife. I´m giving the book 🌟🌟🌟

Anyway, Tue we went out for Korean Barbecue for Audrey´s birthday.
We stuffed ourselves and I gained some more weight. Did I tell you I´m done with childbearing? At least I think that´s what it means when the monthly stops and I still have a low temperature. Yay! I´m so happy I don't have to worry about that anymore. I love babies, but doctor told me after Audrey that it would be dangerous to have any more so I have been constantly on the pill until recently. But downside, I can´t lose weight. It is really frustrating. Sunday was our school cookie making event in the afternoon after choir practice. It was very tiring, but I came home and directly started putting up the Christmas tree and decorations while I was on the roll. Yesterday, I started making the program for the presentation and also some costume hats for the kids with animal parts. I want to finish all prep by Sat, since I have another choir practice then, before the presentation practice on Sunday morning. I have choir again on Sunday afternoon, and also individual instruction by our teacher on Thur morn.
