Birthday

May 14, 2020 00:06

49 years.  From a little kid wishing I could have black hair like the other children around me, to a high school student with serious self image issues, to a young adult with growing confidence, to a mother and teacher - not the best I'm sure, but with the strengths I can be proud of. What is in store for the future, I don't know, but the important thing is to be thankful for what I have now.

The kids did their best to make it the best birthday and they are getting better at it. I think Julian is still planning to make me some caramel custard pie and Alex has been doing some major dish washing. Audrey did her homework all day, which made me just as happy LOL Hubby was more interested in getting something from me but I was in the giving mood and wasn't about to ruin the day with a crabby husband.

We didn't have any special dinner on the day, but we'd had our combined Mother's Day/Birthday dinner on Saturday and that was quite enough.  Hubby took me out for sushi and rabuho after work while the kids stayed at home with a casserole.  I may have mentioned I really don't like having a date on my birthday.  It seems like too special a day to spend it with only one member of the family.  I would have rather spent the evening with the kids as well, and I always feel guilty of eating out just the two of us, while I know they would have loved to come along.  But, it's not like I don't spend the evenings with them every other night.  And hopefully, we will be able to go out again together soon.

Thank you so much to everyone for your Birthday wishes here! jj1564, daisychain1957, dizzojay, bubblesbrnaid, tolakasa, jdl71 and julchen11 for your birthday posts, somer, emmatheslayer, and zara_zee for your messages! If I've missed anyone here, there is a possibility I've missed the post so please let me know. I've really not been good at posting myself so I am especially grateful to you all.

Now some pictures of the flowers Julian and Hubby bought me for Mother's Day - Hubby did buy me some chocolate too, and garbellas are my favorite - and some others as well from the walks and of course Hana.
