The show was taken from a series of books, Shadowhunters. Each volume had its own title, so: Shadowhunters: City of Bones, Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments. There was a theatrical-release movie titled Shadowhunters: City of Bones, which did poorly at the box office. The series was titled Shadowhunters, and sometimes "The Mortal Instruments" was also attached, even though that only pertained to the first season. The books' author had some rather notorious times in fanfiction circles, and the film and the tv series had some prejudice against them because her name was attached. The scripts wandered rather quickly from her storyline (for the better, IMO), but the books have devoted fans, who were vocally disappointed at any deviation from the books

They have them in German DVD with supposed English captain that I've been told. I wish we had an English version here in the US.

Mine are in English. I think you can change the spoken language, and probably the captions, too, but as I said, all the onscreen instructions are in Japanese, which I don't speak. The DVDs are not HD, so the picture isn't as good as it was on the Freeform airing, or on Netflix streaming. All the words on the DVD packaging except "Shadowhunters" and which season the DVDs are from are also in Japanese. Unfortunately, I don't speak or read Japanese.

Sorry to be cutting into this convo again, lol But do you have a link to where you bought those? I'm desperate enough to get the Japense version just to have them, either that or it's the German version.

Thank you, seen that site before but didn't know they had Shadowhunters. Can those be played on USA DVD players? Or do I need a multi-region DVD player?

They're advertised as Region 1--US and Canada. I played them on our PS3--it's how we play blu-rays and non-Region 1 dvds. Be advised, the Shadowhunters DVDs are NOT HD, the picture quality is not up to the standard of the eps aired on Freeform, or presumably the ones streamed from various services. However, I have them in my hands, and that means a lot, even non-HD.

Ah nice. I would have to play them on my computer right now till I get a new DVD player next year. The upcoming months are gonna be tight for me to get a DVD player. I'm fine with that, as long as I have them to watch. So long as their not bad boot leg type DVD's I'm good. I'm willing to give it a go to have it on DVD, then watch it finally come out in America after I buy them lol. Wonder which streaming sites has Shadowhunters? I only have Netflix myself, but they took Shadowhunters off the American version. LOl, understandable. I'm very tempted to get the 3 box set version they have on that site.
