Poll SPN 14-20 MoriahFirst of all let me express my deep frustration that I lost my first draft to LJ. ARGGGG!!!
Secondly, my first impression is AWESOME!!!!! I LOVED it. I laughed at the crazy that was honesty, I was soooo happy that SAM said everything he needed to say - and was weeping going "YES, SAM, YES!" , I was so with Cas when he left, and Man I was so upset with Dean for his dumbassery until finally he got it at the end. OMG. Jack giving himself up to Dean was a very moving scene. I am a little sad that I have to dislike Chuck now for enjoying the pain of his characters. I do love that they used him for the start of the last season - The End. I love that the boys had a chance to vent at him for toying with them all these seasons, because the show's writers really did toy with those poor characters for the sole reason that they ARE our favorite show and we wanted it to go on...and on.... Now I feel very guilty for it LOL And I love how we have no idea what is going to happen next. Love the effects of everything that goes bump in the night coming out of the earth. Love seeing all those monsters from season 1 and on! The White Lady! Bloody Mary! Finally, the boy that felt empty now has empty eyes and is ... in the Empty talking with slimy black ooze and Billie Death. So, I think we are going to see him again. On second watch and counting, there are a few spots that are a bit weird - like the music sometimes, but I can live with that.
I was all for making some gifs but I decided to wait for my rewatch when I can have a nice clean DVD file to work with.
So let me start from the beginning.
The title: Moriah is the name given to a mountainous region by the Book of Genesis, in which context it is the location of the sacrifice of Isaac.
And that makes sense at the end with what Chuck says about the story being epic. But I wonder if the writers understood this story of Abraham and Isaac when they named the story? Because it is about God telling Abraham that he had to sacrifice his son Isaac to God, but it was also a test of how much Abraham trusted God. God ends up stopping Abraham after Abraham tried to kill Isaac in obedience to God, and provides a sheep (a more traditional sacrifice) instead. In this case though, I sort of doubt Chuck was preparing to stop Dean from killing Jack, or that it was a test of how much they trusted him...Maybe in a very twisted sense?
So, going on to the first scene, I am upset at Dean and disappointed in Sam and rooting for Cas as he leaves to find a way to cage Jack instead of killing him. Also, Jack sends waves at them, but doesn't kill them.
DEAN: This, Jack, is just another monster.
CAS: You don't mean that.
DEAN: The Hell, I don't.
Meanwhile Jack is making everyone tell the truth because he hates that Sam and Dean lied to him. But he's forgetting that he's said his fair share of lies too.
Sam and Dean decide to go to a high tech facial recognition software company (MIRROR UNIVERSE - significant?) to see if they can find Jack, but they can't lie either so Dean trying to explain things to the receptionist is hilarious, as is Sam's favorite musician. Sam talking about Dean's nerdity? nerdery? :D is quite funny too :D It's the kind of thing he often says, but maybe a bit more in detail?
DEAN: I'm Dean Winchester and I'm looking for the Devil's son. This badge is fake.
DEAN: I know you always say Elvis but we both know that's crap, so Tell me who your favorite singer is.
SAM: I mean, it's like you said, it's Celine Dion.
Hilarious! I would have never imagined it LOL
PARKING SPACE LADY: I just want to be loved!
WOMAN HOARDING STAPLES: I am the Staple Queen!
LOL!! Also, the President and his deal with Crowley was a little funny.
Chuck appears to Cas as he fails to get into Hell to check out the cage(which was also a little funny), while Jack goes to visit his grandparents. Jack remembers that time that he lied and also that he had killed his mom just by being born. We wonder what he did to his grandma, but he hasn't done anything, just run.
Chuck takes Cas to Sam and Dean at the company and reminds us that he's a writer and lying is what "we do."
LOVE DEAN smashing his guitar LOL!!!, and then Chuck demanding, "don't" and zapping them all back to the bunker. THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND IS A WIZARD :D !!! And finally puts everything back to normal. But, if he can do that, he can probably fix everything Jack does....
SAM: Can you stop him?
CHUCK: Not exactly, but you can. With that.
CHUCK: I'm thinking of calling it the equalizer, or... the hamarabi... no? Cool that's cool.
LOL! Now we know where Dean's taste in namings comes from :D
CHUCK: It doesn't exactly use bullets. (bla bla bla)
CAS: What?
(LOL)
CHUCK: Whatever happens to the person you're aiming it at, also happens to you. So you kill him, ...
DEAN: You die.
Cas tries to stop them from the idea by reminding them that Billie said the only way to stop Michael was to put Dean in a box but they found a different way so, there must be another way.
CHUCK: Yuck, Billie, I liked the old Death better. He's all about fried pickles and tickle porn. This new Death is a stick in a side where it doesn't belong.
(I liked the first Death better too, but if Chuck doesn't like Billie, I like her more.)
Dean gives Cas the ultimatum "God himself has said this is the only way..." which sounds really dumb and lame and I'm upset with Dean. Cas walks away. (*Cheering Cas*)
Sam is called to Dean's room, I guess and he knows why.
DEAN: We don't have a choice Sam.
SAM: Of course we do, don't we always? I mean, Isn't that the point of everything we've ever done, that we always have a choice?
DEAN: He killed our mom.
SAM: I get it. I was mad too. Or You know what, hell, I'm still mad. A part of me still wants Jack dead. It really does. But Dean, we haven't even tried to save him.
OK, you heard him right? He actually blamed mom for what happened.
SAM: He doesn't have a soul
DEAN: Whose fault is that?
SAM: Mine. I'm the one who brought him back. And I brought him back because he's family. And he came back and then he burned off his soul to save us. You and me. And now what? You want my permission? You want me to tell you I'm cool with losing him and losing you all at once? Cause I can't do that. I won't say that, cause... no. I've already lost too much.
Cas punches the car in frustration *feels for Cas* Jack comes to see him and Cas gives him a hug<3<3
Sam and Chuck talk about the various universes, and whether Michael was right that Chuck just gave up on the universes like failed versions of some book. And we know that it is true.
SAM: Is that what you're doing to us?
CHUCK: No, Sam. You and your brother of all the Sams and Deans in all the multiverse, you're my favorite!
SAM: Are you watching us?
CHUCK: Yeah. I mean, you're my favorite show.
SAM: Why does it always have to be on us?
CHUCK: Cause you're my guys.
SAM: You're scared of him.
CHUCK: Aren't you?
(That was an interesting concept, that God might be afraid of Jack and what he could do, but, considering the end, I don't think Chuck is afraid of Jack.)
Meanwhile,
I love the Mary between them just as she is in the next scene.)
JACK: All I ever wanted was to be good, but now I'm just empty.
Then Dean comes up with the gun. Jack throws Cas out of the way and kneels so that Dean can shoot him ...And I'm still upset with Dean. And I also note that of course this had to be a cemetary, just like in the first apocalypse.
The monument of Mary is in the middle pleading - Love the imagery!
JACK: I understand. I know what I have done. And you were right all along. I am a monster.
Sam catches up and Chuck joins him, and of course he's just standing there watching...
And finally Dean comes to his senses and we also find out who the real monster is.
CHUCK:Pick it up! this isn't how the story is supposed to end. ... This is epic!
DEAN:What are you saying?
SAM: He's saying he's been playing us. This whole time. Our entire lives. Mom, Dad, everything. This is all you, because you wrote it all. Right? Because what? we're your favorite show? Because we're part of your story?
CHUCK: Dean no offense, but your brother is stupid and crazy. that boy is still dangerous so pick up the gun. Pick it up. And I'll bring her back. Your mom.
DEAN: No. No. My mom is my hero. And I miss her and I will miss her every second of my life but she would not want this.
SAM: Why the games Chuck? When does it end?
DEAN: We're done talking. Cause this, this isn't just a story. This is our lives. So God or no God, you go to Hell.
And finally the boys are on the same page. Here I start wondering if Chuck was really manipulating Dean these last few eps and making him think in a way he wouldn't usually? ...hmmm, I guess technically we could say he was. He's pretty easy to manipulate I guess? While Sam is a little less easy, and Cas not at all. I kind of like that Cas is the one that keeps believing in Jack the whole time.
Chuck kills Jack to be spiteful, and Sam shoots Chuck. Let me just say, that the story ended the moment he urged Dean to pick up the gun. He shouldn't even have shown his face at that cemetery.
A story with a writer urging a father to kill his son because it's epic? Who wants to read a dumb story like that? LOL But the whole fourth wall thing I love.
CHUCK: Fine. That's the way you want it? Story's over. Welcome to the END.
DEAN: I thought Chuck said that the gun was the only thing that could...
CAS: He's a writer. Writer's lie.
The music all through the above scene reminds me of Princes Bride for some reason...and it doesn't fit. But then it changes as we jump to Jack and I like it better.
God was Never On Your Side
Motörhead
If the stars,
Fall down on me,
And the sun,
Refused to shine,
Then may the shackles be undone,
May all the old words cease to rhyme
If the sky,
Turned into Stone,
It would matter not at all,
For there is no heaven,
In the sky,
Hell does not wait,
For our downfall!
Let the voice of reason shine,
Let the fires vanish,
For all time,
God's face here,
Is unseen,
You can't ask him,
What it all means,
He was never on your side,
God was never on your side,
Let right or wrong,
On our own decide
God was never on your side.
See ten thousand ministries
See the holy righteous dogs,
They claim to heal,
But all they do is steal,
An illusion of faith, cheat, and wrong,
If God is wise,
Why is he still,
When these false profits,
Call him friend,
Why is he silent,
Is he blind!?
Are we abandoned?
in the end?
Let the sword of reason shine,
Let us be free of prayer and shrine
God's face is hidden,
Turned away,
He never has a word to say,
He was never on your side,
God was never on your side,
Let right or wrong,
On our own decide,
God was never on your side!
No, no, no.
He was never on your side,
God was never on your side,
Never!
Never!
Never!
Never!
Never on your side!
Never on your side!
God was never on your side,
Never on your side
And Jack is having a talk with Billie and the slimy ooze. The look through Jack's black eyes is disconcerting, but I like the image of empty eyes and jumping to the Empty.
Up on Earth, it's all dark and all the monsters come out and I love the effects and I love them arming up.
I wonder what will happen next season?! How are going to get out of the pickle? Will Jack save them? And looks like we have a clean slate complete with monsters back. What is the theme of the next season going to be? How will this end? I'm looking forward to it!
