Poll SPN 13-21 Beat the Devil Wow… OMG Sam… Dean… :'''(((
I wonder if this whole thing is going to end this season - if Sam and Dean are going to be able to get back to their own world before the end, or they are going to stay and help Luci and Jack fight Michael. And wouldn't that really mess up destiny? And is that something that Death (Billie) doesn't mind? Or is that problematic? That they all are having such an impact on this other world? And if it is bad, why don't the help more to get them back to their own world before they influence this one so much. They helped Sam and Dean with Rowena - why not Mary and Jack?
I still have a feeling that Mary and Jack would insist on staying now that they have feelings for the people there and want to help. They can’t just abandon their camp. And if Jack says he’s going to stay, obviously Luci is too. The question is whether Sam and Dean are staying too. And how about Rowena? She is going to be looking up something to help the boys get back, I think. Good for her for not running!
This episode seemed really short - maybe because of the dream sequence at the beginning but there wasn’t much quote worthy, it was more action filled.
First, I loved Sam’s dream. I loved that Dean was eating so much pizza in it, and Mary was telling them that Mary and John used to call him their little piglet! Because it is Sam's dream, this is actually probably not true - just a little make-fun-of-brother fun :D
CAS: Dean, you can't possibly eat another. That's your seventh piece.
DEAN: No it's not.
JACK: Castiel's right. I counted.
DEAN: First of all, don't be a nark. And secondly, seven pieces is perfectly normal.
SAM: Ah it's really not.
DEAN: It's not even a whole pie.
The whole happy scene was really nice. Then Mary telling Sam that she knew they would come for her - which is totally Sam’s wishful thinking which I am pretty sure he is going to be disappointed about, but we’ll see.
MARY: It was hard but somehow I always knew you, you and Dean would come and save us, and you did.
Then he wakes up and they are getting ready to really go and rescue the two.
ROWENA: Where's Gabriel?
CAS: He said he needed a minute alone, he wanted to extract his grace himself "in private."
(This is a bit weird, only because they make a deal of it and the spell actually DOESN'T WORK. Maybe this grace wasn't really Gabriel's grace?)
CAS: So I left him alone in Dean's room.
DEAN: What? No.
(OMG. did he jerk off to one of Dean's magazines?? WHERE WAS THAT GRACE EXTRACTED FROM GABRIEL?! That IS what this kind of points to doesn't it? Especially when you consider the next scene with Rowena? And they tease him about how little grace there is?!)
GABRIEL: That is the jet fuel of devine missions. It will be more than enough to get the job done.
(Jet fuel aye? (ROFL)
I love watching them get their duffles and preparing to go - we got to see that twice this ep because Gabriel’s grace is not enough and the rift curls up and dies on them. We have some lovely exciting drums with the preparations.
'That's the thing that kills archangels, right? So Gabriel is going with them so that he can kill Michael?)
(Love how everyone's head goes sideways LOL)
Then Cas suggests that the only way they can go now is to get Lucifer’s grace - how they are responsible for Lucifer since they released him from the cage to begin with, and how they have been avoiding it because they are scared.
Then Sam thinks up a plan.
They go to tell Gabriel and Rowena and find them fooling around LOL!!!
OMG I’d just read a fic of Rowena and Dean so this was especially hilarious.
(Love Gabe's tuffed look :D)
(and Cas' I've so had enough look :D)
I love how Gabriel tricks Lucifer, using a potion of Rowena’s.
LUCIFER: I killed you!
Lucifer tells them to kill him why don’t they, he is so depressed. But they milk him instead, telling him that they will kill him once they get back.
LUCIFER: Look at this, all the people I love to torture in the same rooom.
GABRIEL: Sorry bro.
Gabriel, Cas, Sam and Dean all go into the rift.
I like how the rift is in exactly the same place in each shot :D
(Every single time a rift opens, I also get worried that some people will come through from the other world while it's open. We saw that warrior come through from the bad place at the beginning of the season, so it is possible.)
And Cas finds Gabriel in his crotch after their bumpy arrival :D
One thing Cas is good for is telling them where on Earth they are. They are in Kentucky
Back at the ranch, Rowena tells Lucifer they are going to save Jack who is in the other world, and all of a sudden Lucifer has something to live for again.
He breaks his bonds and tries to kill Rowena but she pushes him into the rift. Having had a scare, she almost decides to leave there and then, but then decides she can't. Not anymore.
Meanwhile, the four musketeers are talking among themselves. Gabriel and Cas about the situation with the angels back at their own world and Gabriel wondering if he could help after all he's done, and Sam and Dean about how Sam is now so full of hope and vigor.
They then hear some screaming and Gabriel first says something about how it not being any of their business because they are not from this world but Sam and Dean go and save the humans from some wild vampires, of course.
I'm worried about that issue - that they are making too much of an impact on that world by them being in it - Sam and Dean, Mary and Jack, and now Gabriel and Cas. Anyway, Sam decides they can’t waste anymore time going the long way - they are going through the vampire tunnel. LIKE REALLY?! He all of a sudden feels invincible, like Jack did. Gabriel tries to talk them out of it, but Cas and Dean seem to agree with Sam. This is where the title comes from I guess? Trying to 'beat the devil' and get there as fast as they can - tying that in with tricking Lucifer into getting caught and having their revenge. Sam telling the people they saved that they would protect them reminded me of Jack doing the same thing and not being able to fulfill his promise. I loved the suspense of the tunnel, but of course one of the humans dies...
And Sam gets KILLED! And Dean is just reliving that scene over and over :’’’’(
(He kills a vamp with his shotgun here and I wonder why he didn't shoot those two holding Sam.)
They get to the camp and Gabriel disables the sigils so that they can get in. Now the camp is vulnerable to other angels too - like Lucifer and Michael too maybe. Cas sees Mary.
Dean’s reunion with Mary and Dean’s tears… :’’’’’(
MARY: Where's Sam?
OMG... *cries*
And Sam wakes up! Luci has saved him and wants him to put in a good word to Jack. Sam chooses to live. (Sam looks really good with that blood on him.
Back at the camp, Gabriel is sad, Cas is trying to explain to Jack that they couldn't save Sam - they would have if they could,
JACK: Why didn't you bring him back?!
Dean is getting his duffle again - why? Whether to go back to the rift or to find Sam and exact revenge on the vamps I don't know - when Sam comes in the gate.
Reunion with Sam!! And Dean's head tilts for the second time this ep - Lucifer.
LUCIFER: Hello, son.
Will Lucifer be able to redeem himself? Obviously he won’t be doing anything to the boys or angels now that he wants to show Jack how good he is. Maybe this will give him a chance to change? We’ll see.
