What did you think of this episode?  I'd love to hear it in the following poll and/or comments!
Poll 12-21 There's Something About Mary

My thoughts -
I’d have to say that I suffered through the Lucifer/Crowley scenes. I know they were necessary for the story, and I knew Lucifer was going to be free sooner or later, but that whole Crowley keeping Lucifer to torture idea was so boring. All I can think is that they put those scenes in to give the actors enough time on screen. Because, otherwise, they would not have had ANY time… at least until the very end of the season.  I did like the scene where Lucifer "kills" Crowley and Crowley escapes via rodent, chasing after his body.  I wonder what Crowley is going to do now - go to the BMoL or to Sam and Dean? Is he going to be the one that helps them get free?

That out of the way, I thought the rest of the episode was really good. PAINFUL, but good because it was painful. None of it was unnecessary either. hells-half-acre mentioned the fact that they killed Eileen the worst way possible - with a monster that could not be seen, only heard. And wow… what an excellent point. I’d say that this was totally intended by the writers and brings them up a notch in my books because that is the cruellest way for her to die imaginable… and more importantly KETCH or possibly the BMoL were the ones that thought of this death for Eileen. The more we see of Ketch, the more I appreciate him not just for his cruelty as we see here, but how he must have come to be that way. Ketch was awesome this ep. We saw so many different aspects of his character if you include this first scene along with his scenes with Mary. This guy loves to hurt, yes, but there is a painful history behind it so he understands what Mary is going through and empathizes with her. I’m sure he wasn’t pretending. He was disturbed and the way he convinced Mary that it was not long now… his face as she begged him to kill her and as he backed out of the room… Love this actor.

Not only Ketch, but Mary was wonderful in her scenes. I genuinely sobbed - shed tears - so much that I worried about red eyes when I had to teach my little three year old student. But then I was in a difficult place that day so maybe half of it was hormones. Still, awesome acting, awesome scenes. (Also, I guess the BMoL don't know that glasses doused in holy oil can help them actually see the Hell Hounds. I'm sure Ketch would have put the glasses on if he had known. I wonder if we are going to see that have any meaning later on or the writers themselves don't know about that.)

I was tickled to see that my thoughts on Mary being changed by the BMoL that I mentioned last ep actually came true! And the situation is very similar to how Naomi programmed Cas in Season 8, isn't it?  Giving her hallucinations of killing a friend over and over again?

I just also realized that this "changed person" theory can also be used for Castiel, if he has been changed by the baby as Dean thinks he has, although I still hope he has not and somehow he turns out to be right... otherwise, it would mean that Sam and Dean saving all those "monsters" and the "it's what you do not what you are" theme would be proven wrong, wouldn't it?  I also wonder who is going to bring one or both of them back - will it be Dean like with Cas in Season 8? or will it be Cas healing Mary for some reason?

I loved all the Sam and Dean scenes of course, but especially Sam’s reaction to Eileen’s death and their worry for Mary - in Mary’s motel room where they heard of it from Jody, at the coroner's and also at the post office when they get the letter from Eileen. Beautiful reactions by Sam each time and great interesting reaction by Dean as well, resigned, checking Sam's reaction like he's worried for him, telling him that they need to channel their anger toward who did it etc.

I'm glad they finally started searching for the bug and liked them tricking the BMoL with their coded talk. There is one thing though that bothers me a bit about the whole bug business. I really really wonder if a high tech bug would be that big and be put in such an obvious place, and also why Sam and Dean didn’t search there first. I’ve seen TV shows searching for bugs in people’s homes and they are most often inside sockets or in radios or computers or somewhere where there is a power source, and boy, are they small. AND the way these bug-busters search for them is with a radio frequency sort of like an EMF meter. I wish the BMoL had been a tad more high tech, and Sam and Dean had been more high tech in their search as well.

Loved all the fight scenes, especially the one in the bunker! and Dean going for Toni when she mentioned the sex in the car.

I’m still trying to figure out why Ketch and Mary would just leave them to “die” in the bunker when they could have just shot them but am really looking forward to finding out how they get out of that situation. I also am looking forward to how Toni acts. She also obviously wants to get out, and I’m hoping she will be telling the boys all sorts of things so that they can, or at least to kill time or something. She may explain about the demon deals, and all the stuff the BMoL is doing that is questionable.

I was super happy to find that the British MoL had been taking advantage of demons and Crowley in particular because I had been wondering about this since the beginning of the season - whether the leader(s) might actually be monsters themselves or be influenced by them. So I’m looking forward to seeing more of this, or at least an explanation by Toni or Ketch on the reality.

So do I have it right? Do we have two eps back to back next week?  THAT is going to kill me.  Looking forward to it very much!

Sam and Dean talking of Eileen, 3 dead hunters in two weeks would not be a coincidence...

DEAN: Who?
SAM: Eileen.

SAM: I wanna punch something in the face.

DEAN: Good, hold on to that. It Looks like we have a hell hound to deal with.

Sam and Dean finding out that the BMoL have very probably killed Eileen.

Dean finds a bug and they trick the BMoL

Ketch's emotional response to Mary -

KETCH: It won't be long now.  This will all be over.  I promise.  I promise....
(It sounds to me like Ketch has been through something very similar himself.)

Sam and Dean looking at each other before they  turn the tables on the BMoL :)

MARY: I'm fine.

(Ketch looking sad...)
