Still hadn't gotten much further on my rewatches of Season 10 and I was in the procrastination mode so I binge watched from 10-13 to 10-17. Just stopping to write down some thoughts and hopefully go on to finish the season (if I'm very very lucky...)
10-13 Halt and Catch Fire
This was the internet ghost one - I rewatched it a while ago and was too busy with other stuff to say anything about it. My reaction to Dean's dirty eating is the same as usual - I love him pigging out, but he doesn't have to open his mouth to do so. Seriously Jensen. The thing I loved the most about this ep was Dean's talk with the girl in the basement about mistakes and regret, the ghost's wife convincing the ghost and herself that it was time for them to let go of each other, and finally of course that speech by Dean.
10-14 The Executioner's Song
I also watched this a while back, but I had to watch the main scenes again today. Mainly - the scene where Dean sees Cain in the camera footage
(that intense face kills me) and that whole fight scene which I forced myself to watch the whole of even though there were some bits that I wanted to skip over just because they were so painful.
Some things I noticed this time around is that the guy on deathrow would have died anyway in two weeks... why did Cain waste his time killing this guy?
Loved the moment between "unless..." and "you're holding back?!" by Cain while they were fighting. Also the veins of red showing up on both Dean's hand as he gripped the blade for the first time, and also on Cain as he gripped it. I don't think I noticed that before.
LOVED the guitar music in the last part of the fight scene where Dean pleads with Cain, "Tell me that you can stop!"
And of course I'm killed in the end by Sam's "Cas..., Dean's in trouble." :'(
10-15 The Things They Carried
A Cole episode with the creepy gross worm monster. I really like this episode. I really don't care how much of an asshole the actor is - all his eps were awesome. This particular ep has just so many parallels to Dean's Mark situation - with Cole in the place of Sam, telling them that he wasn't going to let them kill his best friend - that he needed to be saved not killed. And Dean not letting Cole give up because of his hidden hope for himself. On the outside, he's given up, he's asking Sam to give up... but on the inside, he still needs to hope that a cure will be found while he fights it off.
"That road? That means giving up. You're gonna fight. Harder than you ever have, you understand?"
In the end, Cole gives in to the worm's desires but he is still saved(like Dean gives up and gives in to Death and is still saved by the spell?). Kit, his friend, is not so lucky and Sam feels discouraged. He is also thinking of not being able to save Dean. Dean answers with "You can do everything right. Sometimes, the guy still dies."
Anyway, a very meaningful episode.
10-16 Paint it Black
This was about the ghost in the church. The story was interesting enough and of course Dean showing how scared he is of what seems to be his destiny, and all the things he still wants to do in life. Sam tells Dean in the end that he can always talk to Sam about what he is troubled about... but I think there are somethings you just can't share with the people you are closest to.
Interesting that Sam went against Dean and didn't burn the journal, thereby finding out that it was the picture that needed to be burned. Also interesting that this parallels him going against Dean again and not burning the evil spell book and again, "saving the day."
10-17 Inside Man
LOVED Dean calling out to Sam in his nightmare and Sam running to him. LOVED the bar scenes with Dean <3<3 Brilliant! The seance scene and Bobby scenes were so very touching as well. Metatron being de-angel-ized and the lines about leverage were AWESOME. Bobby agreeing with Sam that he would never give up on saving Dean was heartwarming, as well as Bobby's warning and letter to Sam. LOVED Dean's lecture to Crowley<3<3
Wonderful ep.
