Hey! I'm popping in with my thoughts on this week's episode. I'll catch up with how everyone is doing tomorrow aye?!
I've been missing you all so much!
What did you think of this episode? I'd love to hear it in the following poll and/or comments!
Poll SPN 11-6 Plush My thoughts -
It was OK. I liked that they brought back Donna, and that they named her hunter at the end - I liked the hugs. I liked that they finally brought back a ghost. I've been waiting for that for a while. But, the story on how Chester died, how the woman went to those two accusers before she talked with her brother or even with her son was a bit unbelievable for me. I also did not understand why the spirit attacked Dean instead of his sister at the end. I understand him trying to stop Sam from burning the mask, but it would seem that he should be more intent on killing his sister than Dean.
I also think with a bit more involvement from the boy Max, they could have made this episode a bit better - given us more sympathy for the spirit. I liked how he stopped to listen to Max before going to attack Dean but I wish there had been more build up.
Starting at the beginning...
Dean catches Sam praying to God and he's like, "Come on! Seriously?"
(Sam is so pretty!)
They are really making Dean out into a hard-headed guy this season aren't they? Can't he leave Sam alone? Let him pray if he wants to? What is Dean scared of? Sam getting his hopes up, possibly. We all know Dean going to pay for not trusting his brother's instincts and it bothers me to hell. Also the fact that Sam is praying with his door open LOL I didn't like this scene very much. I will probably grow to like it on rewatch. Right now, I just want to hit Dean over the head.
Donna's hug<3 Reminds me of Garth so much!
I love this picture of them going into the cells and seeing that rabbit boy. Was that rabbit spooky or what?! They've really ampped up the spooky factor these past two episodes! (By the way I did enjoy the THEN of this episode with reminders of the clown episodes! It left us guessing about the kind of monster it was too!
Rabbit boy chokes Dean and Sam splashes him to make sure he's not demon! Dean's matter-of-factly noting that he's strong! And then, Sam finally pries his arm away from Dean. He notices the tattoo and school shirt, which helps them find his girlfriend for starters. That was a fun scene :D
DONNA: A little help would be nice!
Donna was cute with her stubborness in getting the guy out of the chair. That was very realistic and funny.
But then, there is the whole question of why on earth were they taking the guy out of his cell to begin with?! Where were they going to take him? Hadn't Dean told Donna that the guy had come and attacked him all of a sudden, and that it was dangerous to be near him? Did they consult Sam and Dean on whether the tranquilizer would work?
SAM: No one else dies. Not like this.
Poor Sam and Donna, feel bad about killing an innocent boy.
Sam tells Donna it wasn't her fault or Doug's, that they were just doing their job. He also tells Donna that they are going to put this grief behind them by making sure no one suffers the same kind of death again. So obviously this ties in with the whole "guilt and how one deals with it" theme of this season. I guess that's why they just had to have an innocent boy die here - to make a point.
Sam finding that the face under the mask is a girl's, after Dean shoots the salt rounds. Did Dean shoot the girl in the chest? Wouldn't even salt rounds be pretty dangerous if you shoot someone in the chest with them? Do they have the pressure of the rifle set so it doesn't go that deep? I couldn't quite figure out how she could be sitting up and talking right after the incident.
I did enjoy Donna bringing out her diet secret and Dean telling her they have something better. That was fun enough :P
This boy Max, was cute! I wish they could have included scenes where he was getting visits by the ghost too, but nice ones. Using the card tricks mentioned in the later scene would have been a nice touch. Oh well.
This scene is very reminicsent of previous episodes <3
Hehe! Sam having to deal with a clown/ghost-possessed killer all by himself!
Love his hair this season!
OH and the clown killing that guy in his hospital bed was SUPER scary. Especially with that music!! I'm not usually scared of clowns either.
Sam commenting on Donna not being very nice to the "new" Doug and Donna telling him to mind his own beez-wax!
Dean hearing the truth from Stan's wife. I like Dean leaning on the counter -
DEAN: Killer Clown.... You're serious.
SAM: No. Dean. I'm joking. Because clowns are ... real funny to me.
Hehehe! Love the sarcasm! And I love Sam leaning on the wall here as he talks to Dean about how he handled the clown :D
SAM: Chester did no the vics.
Pretty<3
Dean talking to Max and Max telling him how he misses his Uncle, Chester. The boy was an excellent actor and I love his eyes. If only there had been a bit more story here!
MAX: He was cool. I miss him.
MAX: What those men said about him, wasn't true.
Sam and Dean getting mom to get Max out of the room before they talk to her about her brother.
I've already said I'm not really happy with the mom's story or the ghost's attack. And, I suspect they did it this way because they wanted to make a point about brother/sister not trusting each other.
RITA: As much as I wanted to defend my brother, what they said really got under my skin. Chester was always a little off. You know only got along with kids. That's why he became a party performer. I spent my whole life sticking up for my brother. But what if I couldn't see him for who he really was?
Chester was my brother but... I had to suck it up and face my biggest fear. I should have gone to him first, intead, I went to Stan.
But Dean and Sam calling Donna a hunter and Donna all proud and hugging them was cute.
Another unhappy scene - Sam telling Dean what he has been seeing in his hallucinations, and Dean unable to accept it at all. I know he is scared of the hallucinations, and I know he doesn't trust God, but at least he can see the hallucinations as important instead of telling Sam to forget it, basically. Not happy with Dean. Very frustrated. Sam, on the other hand, doesn't want to fight Dean either. He just kind of goes, OK, if that's the way you think, I'm just not going to talk about it any more. And that's not good either.
Lots of frustration this episode - both story and character-wise.
