Feeling sick today I decided to try to finish my little crop toppped sweater with the puffy sleeves. The thing is a disaster. Well Ok, it could be worse but one sleeve is puffier than the other (PAY ATTENTION BETH!) and the body is both too wide and too short. I thought I measured it out all ok but it was all for naught. I may spend the rest of tonight unraveling it. Which sucks bc its a lace weight mohair silk blend and every time I undo it the poor yarn just looks sadder. It was $$ too. I should learn to be nicer to very nice yarn. I may go ahead and make some gauntlets out of the yarn instead. They would look massively cute I think and I could do a nice lace panel down the top of the arm. MMM lace. I am obsessed with lace weight mohair. The last 2 things I knitted for myself have been made out of this stuff. (the first one was a nylon mohair blend.) I am definately much more impressed with the quality and handling of the silk blend and the subtle sheen it gives the finished piece. I should have planned the shirt better, I think they way I did it was too structured for the yarn, and I made the sleeves a smaller gauge which made them too heavy for the rest of the garment. I also wanted it to billowy-er and I was much too misshaped to fulfill that. I will probably try to make a shirt like that again (with some virgin yarn I think) More closely resembling the shape I had in mind, But I'll have to do some actual planning (oh noes!) Maybe with a collar... (ooh I love the peter-pan kind) Fuzzy yarn dreams all!
P.S. Maybe on the gauntlets I could do some bead knitting.... virgin territory I've been wanting to explore for a while. I don't know how this yarn will like beads though.. it is quite fuzzy.
