Of course, after a major natural disaster, life has to get somewhat back to normal eventually. Sigh. The transition is always awkward. But there is work to be done. (Unfortunately we're still in a phase where it doesn't necessarily need to be done by me, so we're just pretending that there is enough for me to do. At least they're kind enough to grant me that much.)
Dan is back from his parents' we spent a nice weekend together. And we (well, he really) got good news. His storage unit is just on the opposite bank of the river from where my office is (more or less), and that neighborhood was evacuated at the same time. We went over this afternoon to check on everything now that the neighborhood is open again, and everything was fine! Somehow they didn't get any water in the storage units! So all of those vintage clothes and his art work since he moved here is all safe! Yay!
I went shopping on Saturday for a bridal shower gift. I was at a complete loss for ideas. (Okay- that's not true, but I wasn't sure how my only idea would go over. I think it's cute, but I don't know E very well, and since she'll be the one immediately receiving the gift I wanted her to find it acceptable (even if I think A would enjoy it).) Anyway, I ended up with a completely uninspired gift off the registry that I'm hoping to add to in order to make it a little more exciting. Bleh. I have an awesome idea for the wedding gift though! I just hope that my skills have any sort of hope of living up to the vision in my head. I have until September to find out. (eta: Ha! Andy, you can totally read this! Sorry!)
I've got a skirts class at Home Ec Workshop later this week, not because I need help making a skirt, but because I thought having 9 hours set aside specifically for making a skirt with people there to hold me accountable... Yeah, that's a good way of ensuring that I'll actually get it done.
