To answer your question, I'm not sure how much you know about this episode, but I'll fill in some of the backstory. In the previous episode, while enjoying a day of rollerblading in the park, Maca and Esther found some badly beaten up kids. Maca is working with a female detective to help solve this case. Esther gets irrationally jealous. Maca doesn't understand why. There is NOTHING going on between her and the cop. Of course, Maca doesn't understand how HOT she is and that anyone with a pulse would be jealous. Enter the guy, Jose Luis. He was a former of patient of Esther's who came in something routine, but was diagnosed with cancer. He's got a massive crush on Esther. He is back at the hospital for a check up to ensure he is cancer-free. Esther accepts his offer to go out, probably to make Maca jealous. Maca is all like "fine, honey, whatever go out..." Heh. This makes Esther even MORE pissy and gives Maca the cold shoulder.... and well, you've figured out the rest.
