If you missed the 3rdsdays: Oakland Poetry Slam Semifinals, you missed a brutal competition! Judges tagged out, poets battled for position, rounds were won by tenths of points…in the end, the poets going to Finals are: Lucky 7 (5th), Dahled (tied for 3rd), Mesej 1 (tied for 3rd), Mark States (2nd) and Prentice (1st). They will go up against the finalists of San Francisco SemiFinals June 13th, at Bistro Yoffi. Of course, your hostess with the mostest Nazelah will be in attendance, but who knows who will actually host Oakland Finals, what with her being in SF SemiFinals at Bistro Yoffi 2 days prior. “Naz is slamming for a team?” you say. Well, dear Readers, as much as your hostess does enjoy hosting shows, her competitive core does not allow her to pass up an opportunity to crush fools; it is her innate nature. And Dahled will be there to battle, and DJ Agana spinning the funky hip hop superhero theme music. These are 10 of the best poets in Oakland - you don’t wanna miss this Slam!
