Alright, so question as
we approach the end of the hiatus.
Cut for spoilers for Season Four in
general.
Has anyone else noticed
that Jensen has been using an extremely raspy voice with Dean this season?
(I call it Christian Bale Syndrome, but that's possibly just me. Those of
you who have seen his Batman will understand.) At first I thought it was
just something he was doing through the first episode because of the evident dry
throat syndrome (his hoarse voice in the coffin and chugging like, two liters of
water when he found the store), but he's doing it fairly consistently. It
seems to be something he's decided to do as part of the character, because he
has been rather consistent with it.
What do you all think
of this? Is he just going overboard being cheesy and macho manly?
Did something happen to him in real life (I didn't notice the rasp in the
convention interviews but they were pretty shoddy quality)? Or does he/Kripke
think it's appropriate that Dean possibly screamed himself hoarse/somehow else
managed to do permanent damage to his vocal chords while dead?
I'm inclined to go with
the last of those options, simply because I have a great deal of respect for
Jensen as an actor, and since coming into his own through Supernatural hasn't
managed to hit my Cheese-o-Meter unless he was intended to do so. But
there is also the possibility that I am just insane.
Random sidenote: Who is it
that has the "I Know How Toast Works" Dean icon? I wanted to
show it to a friend of mine and couldn't find where I'd seen it before. I
know you're here somewhere!
