EP 7 - GREEKS BEARING GIFTS

SYNOPSIS - Tosh meets an unusual woman, Mary, at a bar, who gives her a strange pendant. She is upset, yet amazed by what she now has - the ability to read people's minds. However, Tosh finds this terrible curse, that contains her friends darkest secrets, must be broken. So she asks for help from Mary, the only person who knows, but first, Tosh has to get her into Torchwood.
MY THOUGHTS - The TOSH episode. Ok, so it may not be as exciting or fast-paced as the other episodes, but it was a good strong episode, and gave a brilliant insight to Toshiko’s character, and all the characters actually. Even Ianto - despite only being in about 0.2 seconds of the whole episode, although that’s more time than we’ve had of Jack/Gwen moments over the last two episodes. Jack was a bit different in this ep, a bit mood-swingy, but lets face it, every writer has a different Jack so I’m not surprised. We got a surprising amount of Jack, which was nice, and also nice that we finally had an episode that doesn’t evolve around Gwen in some shape or form. She was pretty much a bitch in this episode. I mean it may just be that Gwen is sleeping with Owen, and as a Tosh-central ep, we feel more sympathetic towards her than the bitch that’s sleeping with her crush. Despite being an especially annoying jerk this ep, I quite liked Owen in this episode. Even if he does have the most annoying mouth in the world…
BEST BIT - …YOU COULD HEAR PEOPLE’S THOUGHTS. Wouldn’t that just be the most awesome thing? I mean, I know its evil, and it made Tosh crazy, but DUDE. My favourite scene had to be the one in the autopsy room when you were hearing Gwen and Owen’s thoughts. Hilarious, absolutely priceless, the whole scene. This was the first time I think I ever actually found I could STAND Owen, which is good. I also loved Ianto’s thoughts earlier, his angst about rats in his tummy and general emoness was hilarious. And Jack’s crazy mood turns and southern American accent. I also loved the pretty alien (and the pretty girl it was hiding in) and the lovely special effects. Wow, this really was a good episode!
WORST BIT - … THE TEETH JOKE. Americans have this stupid idea that the English have horrible teeth, just coz we don’t take dental hygiene as painstakingly serious as they do. I always hate it when they make jokes about it on American TV, But TORCHWOOD ? I feel betrayed…
