[Fran is actually in the kitchen today, stirring a rather large pot of what looks like meat and vegetable soup over a stove lighted with unnaturally red fire. It may seem accidental at first, but he doesn't look away from the pot as he speaks, knowing it's on.What looks like a small white mink on fire pokes its nose into the screen's view, growling ( Read more... )

[This is Usagi. This is Usagi staring because she is not ignoring the word on Fran's forehead.]

Fran has as much trouble as a student as I do.

[Has to be said, because how often does she get the chance to tease about this?]

That's not what Fran's face says right now.

It's his twisted mind doing that.

[THIS POT COULD NOT BE STIRRED WITH MORE ANNOYANCE.]

[He pulls away from stirring and privates the feed.]

Yes, it is. Please gather food and prepare for it.

Right. [Her voice is firm and serious suddenly as the filter switches over.] I'll have it ready in time, for sure.

[A pause.]

I've talked with Hitsugaya as well. Rei and Ami are fine to talk to.

[This is going to sound weird, but...]

Sailor Chibimoon, too. I know she seems like a kid, but... she's one of us. And some of our attacks are attacks we use together. It'll be good if she's there.

And Sailor Uranus. Trust me, Fran. I understand you might not like the idea, because of secrecy. But these aren't just my friends. These are my guardians, the people I know how to fight with and the people who know how to work with me best. It's a good idea.

Isn't she eight? I'd rather not put children on a mission like this, please. And she's your daughter too.

...

I would have to talk to her.

[She's a senshi, Fran. Chibiusa's been at the end of the world.]

Actually, she's nine hundred and two.

[Imagine being her parents for nine centuries of childhood.]

With the mind and maturity of a child. You're not a very responsible parent if you're willing to put your kid in the line of fire, I think.

[Well.]

[Even if that's what his "parent" did but when was Mukuro responsible, really.]

She knows the risks and so do I. She's fought with me through our toughest enemies. She won that right by overcoming her own struggles when she became able to transform. She was sent to us for her training and she became a strong and proud sailor senshi.

I worry about her when we fight. But I can't hold her back from it, either. It's her fate and destiny like it was mine. One day, she'll have all the same power I do now.

Fran. Don't ever tell me I don't think about my own daughter.

[This is perhaps the first time Fran has seen Usagi truly angry, not just sulky or even overwhelmed.]

[He stares at her for a couple of seconds with a bit of amazement at that anger, but eventually resigns to apathy once more.]

That's the problem. You worry about her. You'll be too concerned with her safety rather than the mission.

Ah, as cool as it would be to see her become a superhero, that's not the point of this mission. She can do that in a mission more suited for heroics.
