In honor of the true Superman

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with deep sadness that I report that Christopher Reeve, the man that flew into our hearts as the man of steel, died yesterday at the age of 52.

Supermanhomepage.com reports that while Mr. Reeve was being treated for a severly infected pressure wound (a common complication among paralysis patients), Mr. Reeve spliped into a coma, and finally passed away from Cardiac Arrext.

I've been thinking so hard for the right thing to say but the inspiration this man has given not only to me, but to many others around the world. Yes, he was Superman, but even after his horse riding accident that caused him the loss of use of his limbs he was determined to walk again. He was an advocate of stem-cell research and a noble man. Some would say one of the noblest in Hollywood. Christopher Reeve loved what he did and continued to work after his accident. He was a motivation speaker, a director, and someone who gave the world hope.

He will be greatly missed. That is why, in honor of The Memory of Christopher Reeve, Thursday will be "Superhero Shirt Day." Campy? Yes. Symbolic? Absolutely. Just as Superman inspired the normal people of his world to pick up capes and become his Super Heroic Collegues and help protect the world, Christopher Reeve gave us all the courage to hope and to dream again.

"But most will remember this sad day as the day the proudest, most noble man they ever knew finally fell. For those who loved him -- one who would call him husband, one who would be his pal, or those who would call him son -- this is the darkest day they could ever imagine. They raised him to be a hero: to know the value of sacrifice, to know the value of life. And for those who served with Superman in the protection of all life comes the shock of a failure: the weight of being too late to help. For a city to live, a man had given his all and more. But it's too late. For this is the day that a Superman died." - Superman #75, 1992 "The Death of Superman"
