the past
that which has gone before
the glories, the miseries
that which we will never forget
and that which some wish they could
the victories, the defeats
our firsts and our lasts
our ups and our downs
smiling reminiscences change with
the Columbines
the Kosovos
the 9/11's
the holocosts of our minds
the past that we can hold on high
or cast away
remember or forget
dwell or move on
never forgetting to live for those couldn't
and for those who will
never forgetting one man who died
for us all
the same man yesterday
today
tomorrow
Jesus Christ
saved us from our pasts
and leads us to a future
eternal
