Me being Busy & Heroes Fic: Cliché'd

Cliché’d.

-I’m not stalking you! It’s just…

Gretchen didn’t know an easy way to tell Claire the truth. What she did know was that she was going to lose her if she kept acting like that.

She was on the verge of tears.

-Gretchen? Just what?

The taller girl fixed her gaze on Claire’s eyes.

This was gonna be bad. Really bad. But she couldn’t keep everything inside anymore.

It was now or never.

She sighed heavily, then she took a step forward.

In the next few moments everything happened so fast, that Claire wasn’t really able to tell how Gretchen’s lips ended up gently kissing hers.

Let’s be clear, It wasn’t that mind-blowing breath-taking legs-melting kind of kiss. It was just a simple kiss, and it lasted no more than two or three second. Yet, it was enough to send a shiver down her spine. Enough to leave her shocked and without a single word to say.

Gretchen’s eyes were a bit teary, but she had a small smile gracing her lips. Lips that a few moments ago were on hers. Claire was practically goggling at her.

The brunette took a step back, but didn’t stop looking into Claire’s eyes.

-I..I kinda have a ginormous crush for you, Claire. I’m so sorry. I just didn’t want to freak you out, and ruin whatever it was we were building.

-I…emh…I-

Claire looked a bit overwhelmed.

-It’s okay, it’s not like I expected you to actually return my feelings or anything.

She laughed nervously, fidgeting with her fingers.

The blonde sat down on the bed behind her.

She needed a minute to wrap her mind around the fact that she actually…

-Liked it. I liked it.

She whispered to herself quietly.

-What?

I kissed a girl and I liked it. She half-smiled.

How cliché. She shook her head in amusement.

Gretchen took a step forward and sit and on the very edge of the bed.

-Do you want me to move out?

She kept her voice low.

Claire looked like she was doing some serious meditation. Which was…well, strange. She was smiling most of the time, but now her expression was between serious and amazed.

The brunette could almost hear her brain puffing and panting.

-Claire?

The girl in question closed her eyes for a second.

-Gretchen, I’m…confused right now.

-I can underst-

When she opened her eyes again, she smiled lightly.

-But no, I don’t want you to move out.

Gretchen breathed away the air she couldn’t remember she had been holding.

Claire gently brushed her cheek with her fingers. When did she get that close?

-And now, I want to try something.

She whispered, her breath on Gretchen’s lips.

The girl froze. What’s happening?

She couldn’t think straight. Not with Claire that close to her. To her lips. Well, actually she was never able to think straight when she was with Claire. She was amazing.

And now she was sitting there, less than a breath away from her mouth. She couldn’t take it.

-Claire- The whisper died on the soft lips of the blonde when she kissed her.

It wasn’t like the one from a minute before. It was a soft caressing of lips, a light touching of tongues. Claire’s left hand went up, sliding under Gretchen’s hair, stroking the back of her neck, the right still cupping her cheek, while Gretchen’s hands let themselves fall on Claire’s hips.

It was…incredible.

It wasn’t like Claire had never kissed anyone. Hell, she kissed plenty of boys before. But kissing a girl, kissing Gretchen, was such a different experience. It was like she was in a fairy tale. She would probably be lifting her right foot right now, if she was standing.  Because she was corny like that.

When the kiss ended, the blondie rested her forehead on the crook of the other girl’s neck, hiding a small smile.

Gretchen was amused.

-Superpowers, excellent taste in book and a good kisser. You kinda left out this last part.

-Yeah, didn’t think it was that important anyway. Or that you cared, for all that matters.

Gretchen blushed and was about to reply something when Claire pulled away her head from her neck. Though, she noticed, the girl didn’t break the physical contact between them, only sliding her right hand on the side of her neck.

The brunette was practically beaming. Claire thought she was so cute with that goofy smile of hers.

-So, Supergirl, wanna give it a try?

Claire smirked and then assumed the most innocent face she could manage, though the mischievous look in her eyes was betraying her. She murmured slowly:

-I have never done this before.

Gretchen laughed softly.

-Well, I would hope not.

She breathed in reply before going for Claire’s lips for the second time that evening.

An evening they sure hadn’t planned to go that way.

But hey, college is about reinventing yourself, right?

And no one was going to complain, anyway.
