After being urged by Andy, my parents and my friends, I went to the panel doctor to seek treatment for the recent hair loss. She asked a few questions e.g. do I have dandruff, how much hair loss I've been experiencing, and she examined my scalp for red or bald patches. She didn't find any red or bald patches so that was good news. She said it is most likely a fungal infection of the scalp and she prescribed a shampoo to be used twice a week and enough Fungazol for 10 days. If there is no improvement after ten days she will refer me to a specialist.

I'm nine days into this and it was only on Tuesday that I saw a slight improvement. When I woke up yesterday my pillow had less hair on it than in the past 3 weeks. The amount of hair caught in between my fingers was also less when I used them to gently untangle my hair. I think overall the hair loss yesterday and today is under a 100 so that is a much more normal number.

The reason why I got so scared by it initially is because I lose very little hair on a daily basis. As far back as I can remember I usually lose an average of 30 strands of hair per day. And when I wash my hair I will lose about 50 - 60 strands. Now that I think about it the increased hair loss I've experienced lately probably more than made up for the previous times when I lose little hair.

Anyway, that was a bit of good news to cheer me up. I even called up autreyu to tell her about it! Hehe.
