Oh my gosh, my life is a rollercoaster sometimes.
Last week I found out from the housing office that I needed to give 30 day notice for moving instead of the two weeks that I thought it was. That meant that I would have to pay for 22 extra days (at $16 a day) when I wasn't even going to be living here. They suggested I find someone to take over my lease. So, I found someone who wanted it and viewed the apartment yesterday but she flaked out. Then I contacted another person who had been interested but she didn't tell me until today that she wouldn't be able to move until the end of the month which defeats the purpose of this whole thing. Grr. Being flustered as I was, I went to the housing office to ask what they thought I should do. Turned out there was a girl there who wanted to move into an apartment in my building but there weren't any openings. So the housing person set us up and she's taking over my room from the 15th of this month. I have to pay through the 14th, but that's no big deal. AND THEN! I told my neighbor the whole deal and it turns out that she has a friend coming to visit for a week (starting Saturday the 8th) and, in an effort to save money on a hotel room, wants to pay me to use my room when I'm not here and before the new tenant moves in. Perfecto! That means that I'm not out any money! People, I have been losing sleep over all this lately and it's finally starting to work out.
Then the landlord of the flat I was going to move to in Scotland wanted a minimum length of stay of six months. I might stay six months but I don't know yet and only know that I'm staying three for now. So, housing fell through. AND THEN! Someone answered my post that I made last night to the Edinburgh LJ community and had a perfect solution for me. The flat is literally three or so blocks from my internship, for the right amount of money, for the right amount of time, and we even have some things in common. Amazing! I really hope this works out.
School. Ugh, can it just be over already!??!!? Did a presentation for my science class on Monday with my group and we totally sucked. One of my group members (who doesn't get along with the prof at all) e-mailed the prof to ask about raising his grade and mentioned that he thought the presentation went well. She responded by saying that there's no way to raise his grade and she also said, "To be frank, your group's presentation in class was the weakest of all of them. I hope that your research paper due on Friday and presents your work better." Guh, I hope she doesn't think that this one group member reflects the beliefs of the other three of us in the group! I'm tempted to e-mail her to tell her that I hope she doesn't hold one group member's comments against the rest of us... I don't know though, that might be pushing her temper a bit too far. At least I'm done with all my other finals besides that last research report. I even aced my Guitar final and the instructor told me that my finger picking of "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac was the best he'd heard all day! Other than that, I turned in my Conflict Res final paper, Women's Studies final paper, and did my Bowling final. Almost done!
Tonight I'm having dinner with my dad and sister and then going over to Sarah's for movie watching and hanging out with Sarah, Chris and Sean. Tomorrow we work on moving my stuff to the storage unit with the amazing help of Sarah and her van of wonder. Speaking of which... I need to get back to packing! Also, today I was able to trade a large chai for seven moving boxes from another student. The boxes I used to move before are in my storage unit so I really needed the boxes! I love that all I had to do was trade a chai.
Right. Back to packing. Ciao!
