Starbucks

I was just ringing up a customer's purchase and he asked, "Where's the closest Starbucks?" After I had a nice li'l laugh, I explained that there were no Starbucks' here. He asked why not. I told him that the local islanders don't like the idea of chains, especially not corporate chains.

The idea of a Starbucks/Walmart/McDonalds here is so bizarre. Jeez, I can't even imagine a time when that would ever happen.
