and my rant for today
i am so fucking sick of people vocally bitching about the war in iraq, and not actually DOING anything about it. yes, we invaded iraq. yes, it's fairly obvious at this point that there never were WMD's. yes, we invaded for the oil. and it's fine to hate that, it really is. i'm not happy about it. but remember that the next time you're ONLY paying $2.50 for a gallon of gas. because without us in iraq, i can promise you it would be 4 times that much. which equals the end of our fucking economy, people. $10.00 a gallon for gas? so now how do you get to your classes? how do you get to work? can't afford to drive, right? oh well, i'll take the bus. but wait... now the muskegon area transit system can't afford to operate. not for $1.25 a ride, anyway. oh well. pay the new $6.00 ticket to get to class. day goes ok for a bit, up till it's time for lunch, but the shipment of food didn't come in today, because no shipping company in the world can afford $10 a gallon for gas. so now it looks like you're stuck eating whatever 3 day old food is still in the freezer, and by the end of the week, you're going to have to start packing a lunch. not that meijer's or walmart will be able to afford to have food shipped in by the end of the week anyway. so go to your classes, and pay another $6.00 to take the bus home. oh, what's this?! people are rioting all over the place? people are looting, stealing, burglarizing whatever they can, in hopes that they can get enough money to buy gas to get back and forth to work, to support there families for a little while. not that many people are going to have jobs for long, because no companie's can afford to pay for shipping anymore. that means the materials that your dad uses to make furniture at the local factory can't get there. that means your sister's cleaning job can't afford to get ahold of cleaning materials. that means that nobody has parents who can afford tuition anymore, so teachers are fucked. of course anybody in the automotive industry is fucked. you people don't fucking understand how important oil is. does it suck? yes. is it right? no. do i agree with it? morally, no. but in reality, it's a hell of a lot better than the alternatives, ladies and gentlemen. george bush did what had to be done, as was his responsibility as our president. you don't like it? then fucking walk.
