Living in a Radical Dream; Wind, Stars, and Waves: The Song Time Continues to Sing
tl;dr My motherboard shat itself. Or my processor. You know, whatever.
Ok ok, the long version. I come home from school one day and there's a spiffy used flat panel monitor on the counter. Turns out, it's for me! My aunt didn't need it anymore and passed it along. So I turn off my computer and disconnect the old monitor. In goes the new one and, while I'm yutzing back there I catch the acrid smell of something burning, though it might have been just dust. I'm STILL not 100% certain. If you've ever shot a cap gun, you know the EXACT scent I'm talking about. Anyway, I go to turn my computer back on, and nothing happens.
NOTHING happens. Like, NOTHING. As in, really REALLY nothing. Computer doesn't boot up, cmos/bios doesn't load, it doesn't even check the ram. The goddamn fans don't even spin up. I hoped against hope that it was the power supply and put in a brand new one that I had lying around, but no dice.
My aunt supplied me with another motherboard, but the reason she wasn't using it is because she couldn't get it to work. The reason she couldn't get it to work is because the damn thing doesn't seem to have a cmos or bios. And she bought it a good three years ago and doesn't have the reciept anymore, so I can't return it or send it in.
The GOOD news is that the mobo came equipped with a PCIE GeForce 6600 (a step up from my AGP 6200 (that I *JUST* bought grumble grumble) and a 250 gig SATA hdd. What this means is that when I buy a new motherboad, I don't have to get an agp board because I can't afford to get a new video card with it. I can actually get a nice upgrade. Unfortunately, with only about 40-50 usd to my name, it's going to be a while before I can save up the $200 or so to get the mobo/processor combo I've got my eye on. Birthday is April 3rd! Until then I'm....stuck.
I guess what I'm trying to say is....SOMEONE GET ME THE FUCK OUT OF HERE. I've got nothing to do and noone to talk to. I'm going stir crazy. Also WHY IS TELEVISION SO BAD? I can only watch so much mythbusters and history channel; the rest of the time I can feel the intelligence melting out of my brain and leaking from my ears oh god please help me I'm going to die
