Look, a poet! Let's snap a picture!

This is me going through my old poetry journal. I wrote "Insomnia" and "Rewrite" sometime during freshman year; "November 24th, 2005" should be self-explanatory.

November 24th, 2005

He prayed.
He bowed his head and moved his lips.
Muted grace.
Head spinning around steam and dim lighting...

We never prayed before...

She sits at the other end
When'd she get back?
Re-living a lost past
That never really happened...

He never loved her...

They sit in the middle
Silent, disguised sisterhood
It won't change a thing
They never talk anymore...

She never noticed...

I sit alone
Temperature drops
The wind howls at the broken window panes
I can't say a word

The wind won't let me...

Insomnia

Fingering the inscriptions
This isn’t mine…
Where is familiarity?
This has been twisted enough
Beyond recognition.
The voices sound the same,
But they’re all strangers.
Where’d our photos go?
But these empty spaces
Seem all too familiar.
I know this.
The photos never existed
Did they?
Didn’t think so.
They were about as real
As that smile
Feebly painted across your face.
But I think the worst of it all…
It worked.

Rewrite

These stains on the floor
Aren’t going away.
I knew she wouldn’t talk;
I guess she couldn’t stay.
Look at us, we’ve done so well
(Never worry, never care)
I guess this theory they came up with,
Was too much for you to bear.
Split the money
Take our separate roads
“We only want to help you”
I never should have told.
Your sacred self-indulgence
Afraid to take control
“We only want to help you”
I never should have told.

I like "Insomnia" the best, if you'd care for my opinion.

I think these are the only ones of my vast collection of documented teen angst that deserves recognition by other people. Enjoy.
