"...but if the police come for you, you fuckin go with the police."
Agreed!

If he left when they cut his mic, if he didn't resist them gently escorting him out, if he didn't flail the whole way, he would have been fine.

It would have helped if any of the police officers had said, "you are being arrested/detained/escorted out for disturbing the peace," though. It was kinda surprising that they weren't trained to say that at the drop of a hat.

Usually the phrase, "don't tase me, bro," is followed up with the person not struggling, though, so that was his bad.

Here is what Nancy Grace (your friend and mine) said on her show: she said that the kid's demeanor completely changed when the cameras were off. He was very calm, joking with the cops and telling them he understood they were just doing his job. He asked if there would be cameras when they got to the station.

She also said that one of the girls who shot the video- she was standing in front of Meyer in line. He cut her, gave her his camera, and asked her to film him asking the question.

Where did Nancy Grace get this from? I don't know. I thought the kid was a douche from the start, and now I wonder if I underestimated the douche...ness.

... now I gotta figure out who Nancy Grace is.

I was told that this kid has a website with videos of himself doing stuff like this, so I wouldn't doubt that once the cameras were off, his demeanor would change. But if it was all for show, then it's even worse, because he went in with the intention of causing a disturbance, maybe not as big as he did, but a disturbance none the less.

Don't you just love how people will jump at a chance to protest without all the information.

I came to somewhat the same conclusion as you, after reading like 5 articles and watching a couple clips. But in some defense of the protesting people, the first clip I found on YouTube make the police look pretty bad, because it just showed the guy asking one question and then being grabbed and, without explanation, hauled off. Even though he was flailing and clearly resisting arrest, he was yelling so plaintively, it tugged at your heartstrings ( ... )

Yeah, the media is warping this whole thing. I find it pretty embarassing for UF though. I went to the march and it was lame. A bunch of hippies wandered through the streets of campus not really sure where to go next. And then I left because I have a job.

One of my friends said that he was outside of a bookstore the day the last Harry Potter was released holding a sign that said Harry died at the end of the book and was filming people's reactions. What a jackass.
