I let out a sigh as a couple more pieces were brought in. As I sign the papers, I noticed that a couple of them didn't even have names. The connections that Wolfram and Hart had were more than unheard of, they more than likely didn't even exist on this dimension. It didn't matter to me though, all I wanted was the help him, make things right before something very unfortunate might happen.
I tried my hardest not to think about it too much, the sadness that lay in his voice. He sounded so scared and alone, I didn't know if I could help. But I wasn't about to sit here and do nothing, while he could possibly been sucked into hell at any given minute. We were running out of time, each moment counted off on the clock.
I've had the whole lab working none stop along side me, which wasn't very easy. I could tell their morale had quickly fell, after the first couple prototypes had failed to measure up. I also got several comments about other assignments that were of more importance. They angered me, giving me more stress than I could possibly handle.
I controlled myself from snapping at them the best way I knew how. I stayed locked in my office, creating plans on our newest device. As each piece came in, it seemed as though we were catching on to something. After combining physics and mystical forces, the device itself was coming together quite quickly.
I could sense each of them, working harder than before as they knew we were almost finished. I looked at the clock and noticed it was late in the afternoon. Spike hadn't stopped by, and I hadn't heard a word about him. Well there was this morning, when Holden told me about this very odd gesture Spike had given him.
As a knock hit my door, I quickly got up hoping it was good news. I opened it to find yet another paper I had to sign. I let out a sigh, Wolfram and Hart sure did know how to keep a girl busy. After signing it, I got a surprise as Holden told me everything was ready. I laughed thinking that he had been joking, he reassured me and I couldn't help but smile.
The only think left to do now, was to re-check everything before actually going through with it. That part I could do by myself, as I checked every inch of it. It did infact have a few minor errors that were easily fixed. I studied it once more, making sure all the controls had been memorized.
I let out a sigh, it was showtime. Well it would be if Spike were here, I had to admit I started to get a little anxious to see what it would do.
