Melissa and I had left the hotel. My Dad was with Faith and he looked angry or depressed. I had heard him earlier. He was a mixture of both, with a heavy sprinkling of the guilty.
He felt responsible that so many slayers had been killed. Jada didn't seem to blame him, and Melissa, who I was with, didn't blame him either. That Xander guy had blamed him and if I had been in a bad mood, I would have knocked his head off for someof the things that he had said about my father, but Angel could handle himself, and besides, Xander seemed to be friendly with Melissa, who I wanted to like me.
Gunn and Jada had went off in one direction, while Melissa and I had gone off in another. We were heading towards the ocean. I knew that a lot of people liked to hang out by the pier and to me, that would be the perfect place for a bunch of demons to show up for the slaughter that they didn't get, at least totally, in the big fight with all of us near the hotel.
On the way, while I used my ears and nose to listen or smell any demons that might be hiding, Melissa asked me about my powers, what it was like to be the son of two vampires and I ended up telling her about Quortoth and how old that I really was and how I used to be and the magical spell that Angel had used to save my life, which gave me a great new family, who had no idea about my other life, my real life.
I felt ashamed to be so young, in reality, but Melissa knew about hell dimensions and didn't seem to be freaked out by the truths about me. I was glad, because she was older, which I always liked. She was beautiful, and muscular and a vampire slayer. I thought that she was perfect, but I was probably in way over my head in dreamland for thinking that she would be interested in me.
We neared the pier and I could hear kids having a party. Melissa could hear it too, so we sped up and as we got near the pier, I could see a nest of vampires heading towards the kids, but they weren't the only ones converging towards the kids' party. A blonde, looking determined also approached.
Melissa told me that it was Buffy, and she intersected the demons first, obviously having her eyes on them for quite some time, because she hadn't noticed us either. Melissa charged forward, to be by Buffy's side, and I was right there with her. All of a sudden, it was six vampires against two vampire slayers and me. These were odds that I liked.
"Well guys, it looks like you don't get to eat tonight, and you know what, you won't be eating ever again..."
I stood in between Buffy and Melissa and they both looked at me as I taunted them. It was in the bag, though. I had killed hundreds of vampires in my past life and this would be easy.
