Upcoming Workshop: "Writing Jean Grey" by Likeadeuce

Jul 27, 2008 16:33

Because I'm rather woefully ignorant of the Marvel universe, I asked
likeadeuce to write up a short introduction of herself with links to some of her stories. I liked the results so much that I'll probably encourage any of you writing in the future to write me up an introduction, although I'm happy to write them myself if you're pressed for time, too. :) So without further ado, I present
likeadeuce:

-------------

likeadeuce has been a fan of Jean Grey since she first saw Famke Janssen in the X-men movies. But it was discovering the stories by Chris Claremont and Grant Morrison in the Marvel comics universe -- and most recently, by Jeff Parker in "X-men: First Class" that really made her fall in love with the character.

She's been writing Jean fic for a couple years now:

"In Care of Thee" is a look at Jean's origin, from Charles Xavier's point of view.

"Vanishing Act" is a Jean point-of-view story set in the middle years of the character's canon.

"After Life" is a Scott/Jean story that attempts to integrate various part of Jean's canon, something Deuce will be talking about in the essay.

Some of her views about Jean and her relationships are also reflected in the earlier superhero_muses essay here.

She's also the moderator for
xmenfirstclass, which has a large collection of Jean Grey stories tagged here.

In short, she happily ships Jean with Cyclops, with Wolverine (or with both) and any one of a dozen other people. Just give her a good story about Jean and she'll be happy!
