A little more LeGuin for this week:
"The unspoken, as we know, tends to strengthen, to mature and grow richer over the years, like an undrunk wine. Of course it may just go to Freudian vinegar. Some thoughts and feelings go to vinegar very quickly, and must be poured out at once. Some go on fermenting in the bottle, and burst out in an explosion of murderous glass shards. But a good, robust, well-corked feeling only gets deeper and more complicated, down in the cellar. The thing is knowing when to uncork it."
I'm working on a little something that I hope will be a fairly well-rounded, full-bodied fic, with a flirty blend of flavors and just a touch of angst. If all goes well it will have a generous finish with some complexity and a silky texture that is bright and refreshing.
*collapses in giggles* Okay, I'm sorry, the snooty wine metaphor was too much fun to resist. Man, I can't believe I went and did research on wine to write those two sentences, I'm pathetic.
Here's hoping for a weekend with little vinegar and no explosions, just intoxicating writing and stories ranging from bubbly to deep. :)
