Chapter 5

“Jin, you said you wanted to go to school today -” went the tentative whisper so close to his ear, so warm that it tickled him, but also so affectionate that Jin wanted to cuddle with the speaker in bed for just a bit before getting up.

“Ow - Jin - !” Kame protested feebly, nevertheless allowing himself to be hoisted onto the bed, pulled close by the waist by Jin who had not even cracked an eye open.

“Let’s just stay like this for a while,” Jin muttered fuzzily, nuzzling into Kame’s hair. The smaller man, previously stiff in Jin’s hold, yielded and put an arm over his waist and snuggled into him, his breath tickling Jin a little.

“We’ll be late if we don’t start preparing,” Kame mumbled against his chest after a few minutes.

“Then let’s be late,” Jin replied, grinning and hugging Kame even tighter. “What time is it anyway?”

“Eight thirty.”

“And what time does school start?”

“Ten AM.”

“Lots of time~” Jin declared, swinging a leg over Kame’s.

Jin did not know when exactly or if he fell asleep again, but at some point he was already leaning over Kame and trailing wet kisses down his slender chest while the younger shyly caressed his lower regions. Kame had this reticent but teasing smile on, and Jin could not work out how they had ended up like this, and why his boyfriend was in such a playful mood.

Thinking about it - which was no easy feat when Kame’s touching himself and making lewd sounds under him - Jin had been the one to push things further, whether it was wordlessly asking Kame for a blowjob or persuading him to have sex. Which is why Jin found it odd that Kame - Kame, who was ever composed and cautious - was openly seducing him, dirty talk spewing out of his lips, gazing so hungrily at Jin like it was their first time.

“I want your cock in me, Jin,” Kame made a breathy whisper, but Jin heard it perfectly and it made him shiver with exhilaration. He was definitely liking this Kame.

When the younger man finally decided to reward Jin and touch his erection, Jin started to moan shamelessly, telling Kame to go faster and hold him tighter, all the while thrusting into the slick and warm hand.

“Yes - like that - faster - yeah baby - ”

“JIN FOR GOD’S SAKE WAKE UP!”

Jin was shaken awake by, well, the man in his dreams, only Kame was fully clothed and looking slightly scandalized. Coming to his senses, Jin realized that he might have been harassing Kame in his sleep, judging from the alarmed look on the younger’s face, not to mention how he seemed to be trying with all his might to edge away from Jin on the bed.

“What on earth were you dreaming about?” Kame grumbled, sorting out their limbs on the bed and finally sitting up.

“Just… stuff,” Jin replied, blushing.

Kame huffed as if to dismiss Jin’s answer and got up from the bed, hastily walking out. Before totally making his way out, he turned and spoke with an officious air about him, “Get up already. If I leave you here, you won’t be able to find your way to university, would you?”

So Jin got up and took a shower, preparing for school as was commanded. Kame was rather bossy sometimes, but Jin guessed he was like that when the situation demanded. The younger man was like that, too, when they went to the doctor. Truly, Kame worked up the conscientiousness when necessary. Jin wondered if he himself was like that, too.

“So I have just one class today? Cool. I think I can pretty much survive that!”

Jin was standing in the kitchen doorway, reading the piece of paper on which Kame had drawn his daily class schedule in little, color-coded boxes.

“Are you sure you want to go to school?” Kame asked as he prepared their breakfast - fried rice with whatever could be found in the fridge that was appetizing enough to toss in. He was planning to just grab something on the way to school, but since Jin was up and energetic, too, Kame decided he might as well cook something.

For someone who was on his toes about Jin going to school, Kame made great effort to make sure Jin’s day would go smoothly. He was too worried that Jin might wind up in awkward situations, so he ended up drawing a map of the campus - quite difficult to read but Jin appreciated the attempt anyway. He also wrote down a detailed schedule, and gave pointers about people and places to remember.

“I don’t know Pi’s schedule but if you bump into him he will try to touch your collarbones. Just saying,” Kame explained as he cleaned the table of their breakfast.

He also mentioned some people to avoid, “Never go out during class because the Dean roams around the school - Kitagawa-sensei hates your face, and he will have you debarred for ‘loitering’ even if you just went out to pee,” Kame warned resolutely.

Before going out, Kame gave Jin’s phone to him, too, telling him to dial Kame’s number should he have any sort of trouble. Jin decided he would read his contacts list, too, maybe when he got home later that day. He was now really curious of his life, well, outside of the house.

“So… meet you back here at lunch time?” Jin said merrily as they stood at the gates of the university.

He could swear Kame was about to raise an eyebrow at him, before a group of giggly young girls passed them by and greeted in shrill, annoying voices, “Good morning, Kamenashi-sempai! Akanishi-sempai!” Kame nodded to them, but Jin could only follow the group with his gaze as they made silly laughs upon Kame’s acknowledgement.

“I can’t meet you for lunch, I’ll be discussing my thesis with a friend - his research is related with mine and I need his input - ”

“But Kame - ” Jin whined, grabbing Kame’s wrist as if that would convince the younger man to have lunch with him. “I can’t eat alone, and I want to spend our free time together! You still have a class in the afternoon, right - ?”

“You’re acting really childish right now, Jin,” Kame snapped, and it was such a foreign thing to Jin to see Kame somewhat angry with him. He didn’t even know why Kame was so annoyed. What was wrong with having lunch with your boyfriend?

Kame remained staring angrily at him, and Jin couldn’t bear it anymore, so he conceded, saying, “Alright, sorry… I’ll see you when you get home, then.”

He tried not to sound too sour about it, but his head hung low as he spoke anyways. “See you!” Kame bade farewell to him with a smile, mood suddenly better.

Kame was acting rather strange today, Jin decided.

The one class Jin attended took his mind off things for a short while. He was expecting to be all distracted and nervous while the lecture went on. He had predicted massive confusion and a general feeling of being lost like how he reacted when Kame talked about music or when he tried to read his notes, but he was surprised that he found it rather easy to understand. It was a plus, too, that his seatmates, two very pretty girls, were very much willing to explain anything and everything, if not explain the entire lecture by themselves.

By the end of the class, Jin was feeling pretty good about himself for surviving that, until he stepped out of the classroom and had to check Kame’s poorly drawn map once more to find his way around the building. Walking down the hallways, Jin was greeted by a lot of people - none of whom attempted to touch his collarbones, thankfully - and was even highfived by a short guy with strong features who was walking along with six other men, none of whom spared Jin a glance.

Jin passed by a small cafeteria near the exit, caught sight of Kame sitting at one of the square tables. Standing a little to the side of the dining hall doorway, he instantly wanted to rush inside and tell the other man that his class was such a breeze and how his classmates were all nice and helpful. But then he remembered that he was not allowed to do that because Kame had explained what he was going to do at lunch time, and Jin didn’t want to annoy Kame again by barging into his boyfriend’s lunch meeting.

Jin did not understand, but there was this weird feeling that instantly bubbled up in him when he saw someone with dark, curly hair join Kame at the table. The guy had a smug smirk on his face, and Jin felt angry but he could not explain why. It’s not like Kame didn’t say what he was scheduled to do, so this was probably the friend he was talking about.

It wasn’t a pleasant feeling, and Jin didn’t want to get used to it.

He calmed down a bit when he saw them being joined by three other men: one really tall guy who smiled rather creepily, one who looked so feminine - Jin would have mistaken him for a girl if not for the fact that he was bald, and one who had a big nose. Whatever Kame was doing with those guys, Jin was quite sure he can’t be attracted to them.

A few moments more and they started eating, talking and laughing loudly as they did so, and that sure as hell didn’t look like thesis discussion to Jin!

He took a deep breath and convinced himself to get over it. That curly-haired man and those guys were Kame’s friends, and chances are Jin was friends with them, too, if not civil at the very least. With much effort, he tore his gaze away from the five men and walked out of the building to go home as he originally planned. You’re only reacting this way because you can’t remember anything, Jin told himself.

“Hey Jin!”

He was almost at the gates when Jin was pulled out of his internal pep talk. He heard someone call his name, immediately followed by a tap on the back.

“How are you, man!”

A dude in a hoodie and sweatpants greeted him in English. Turning around, Jin found the one who clapped his back to be a tall guy with Western features and wearing big, dark sunglasses along with a shirt and cargo shorts.

“I - I’m good - ?” Jin replied with uncertainty. Kame told him about his close friends, especially Yamashita, but he didn’t mention anything about foreign acquaintances, like the two in front of him right now.

“So, how did your confession go?” the shorter boy asked, leaning in a seemingly conspiratorial gesture. He looked Asian, but kept talking in English. Maybe he wasn’t Japanese?

“Confession…?” Jin echoed, blinking back innocently.

“You got so drunk at the party last Friday that you started telling everyone you were going to confess your love for someone - ” the boy said, laughing.

I have no idea what you’re talking about!

“Seriously?” the guy wearing sunglasses cut him short. “So it’s bye-bye Lizzy now, huh?”

“Lizzy?”

Jin was not able to stop himself from asking, because who the fuck was Lizzy?

“The exchange student from American University, remember?” the tall Western guy replied, supplying him with a bit of detail. “You said you like her ‘cause she’s a good dancer. C’mon, Jin, we all know what that means.”

“No need to rush our big boy! Jinny needs a lot of girls to choose from, right?”

The two erupted with laughter as Jin merely looked on with uncertainty and without an ounce of understanding of what the conversation was about. It seemed like much more had happened at that party than what Kame was able to tell, but Jin didn’t know if Kame knew this at all.

“So, what are you up to right now?” the taller guy asked, checking his phone as he spoke.

“Oh. Haha. Uhh… I’m on my way home. Talk to you later, okay!”

“Right, see you tomorrow!” the Asian agreed, waving his hand in parting. “Let’s go, Josh,” Jin heard him say to the other guy.

Jin walked off, confused, with his head feeling like he was hit by a bus. Jin supposed those two guys were his friends, but what on earth were they talking about at all? Was he going out with this Lizzy before he dated Kame?

Jin got home in his mystified state, going into the house as if on autopilot since he was still absorbed in his own thoughts. Coming up to his bedroom, Jin decided to give his laptop a try, turning it on and waiting for the log-in screen. Fortuitously enough, there was no log-in screen, and he was immediately preoccupied with how to open his goddamn Facebook account. His browser remembered his log-in e-mail address, but then right now he had as good a shot at his password as flying to the moon.

Jin took out his phone and scrolled down his contacts until he found the name ‘Josh’ typed out with excessive and unnecessary punctuation marks along with alternating capital and small letters. Whoever typed his information in that way was a total retard. At any rate, Jin was hoping that he was on good terms with Josh, good enough for his idea to work.

“Dude… would you, like, know what my Facebook password is?” Jin asked when Josh answered, which was after about three rings.

“LOL you forgot? You can just hit ‘forgot password,’ right? And it’ll send your password to your e-mail - ”

“Yeah but I can’t access my e-mail either,” Jin said, deliberately failing to say how he could not remember anything, online or not.

“Oh, what, a virus?”

“Yeah, maybe,” Jin agreed indistinctly. His one hand was tightly gripping the phone against his ear, while the other was tense over the laptop keyboard. It didn’t register how he was actually nervous about accessing his account either.

“Well, I have your password from months ago, I don’t know if you’ve changed it already,” Josh said. “Try ‘bitchesbegtosuckmeoff,’ no spaces - ”

“What!”

The man on the other end of the line laughed at Jin’s reaction, “Yeah, you’re crazy, you know that?”

“Y - yeah,” Jin replied, trying with all his might not to sound scandalized. What kind of password is that?

After the call, Jin did try the password Josh gave, and he didn’t know whether to feel relieved or scared that it worked. Time seemed to slow down as Jin waited a few milliseconds for the homepage to load. When it did, Jin reluctantly clicked to his page, and he found out that he’s quite a busy person, being member of a rock band and a street dance crew.

Looking at pictures he was tagged in, there was indeed a party a few days ago like Kame and his friends had said, and boy was it crazy. Jin was a bit amused over how the pictures turned wilder and wilder as the time they were taken progressed into the night. Jin had a couple of pictures with Kame (looking sober and proper, unsurprisingly), a couple with a group of guys, but the rest were with a group of people that included Josh and the other guy from earlier. That group comprised of entirely foreign-looking boys and girls who likewise looked drunk as fuck.

Jin stared at himself in one of the images for a moment. He was all sweaty but he was grinning at the camera, his arm draped over the shoulder of a blonde girl who was laughing. Jin marveled over how he could not remember at least this moment, no matter how much he tried. It seemed so surreal, such bad luck. He guessed he wouldn’t be smiling like that had he known what was going to happen afterwards.

Jin clicked around on his profile some more. It was weird. He was getting to know himself, literally. He liked it, though, because he seemed like a really cool dude, until something caught his attention.

‘Studying Music at Tokyo Geijutsu Daigaku

Interested in Women. Relationship Status: Single. The little voice in Jin’s head declared the last bits of information over and over again.

His mind suddenly buzzed with too many questions and different emotions all at the same time, and Jin did not know how many minutes more he remained staring at the screen.
