Aiden never slept through the night. He was an "easy" baby 95% of the time. No projectile vomiting like the neighbors son, sick spells were short. Sure, he'd throw a 105 deg temperature a couple times a year.. But he was an easy baby.. except for sleeping through the night.

He was at least 9 months old before he slept through the night the first time. And even though I was working, and Cheryl was a stay at home mom, I still got up with him at least half the time because of Cheryl's insomnia (He'd be waking up right about the time she was falling asleep).

I would lay on the recliner.. tired. Him on my chest.. cuddled under a blanket.. and I would think to myself.. "this could be the last time he wakes up at night. Tomorrow is going to come sooner than later.. and he's not going to need to fall asleep on my chest.. and then another tomorrow when he wont want to... And this.. peace.. will be one of the moments I look back on and smile about.. this is tomorrows memory.. "

Last night we took Aiden to Taekwondo. and I watched this young man listen to the instructors heavy accent (think Mrs. Swan from mad TV).. Learning from others, having confidence in himself to try, and not give up. I could not stop smiling.. It is absolutely worth it.... (I wouldn't trade it for the world, but I also probably wouldn't do it again).

Chapters have friends unique to them. Would I have been close friends with those I am closest to now 10 years ago? I don't think so.. Not because I wouldn't have been friendly to them.. but their wouldn't have been that bond.

I think it gets trickier, when you have young kids, to find friends for both you, and your kids.. People who's company you (And your spouse) can get absorbed in, and who's children and environment are comfortable and secure enough that the kids can just go be kids, knowing they wont get hurt, or hurt themselves w/o you hovering..( and that if they find a terrarium, and decide to play in the mud, indoors.. that they had as much fun as you did.. and they will relate their grand adventure as they fall asleep on the way home. )

She is going to be grown before you know it. You will re-adjust your circle of friends.. and this will be one of those chapters you look back on fondly. Enjoy the journey as much as you can, the next chapter is always right around the corner.
