How do I pronounce "GIF"? (Graphics Interchangeable Format)
Is it with a hard "g" as in gift or a soft "g" as in jiffy? The creator, Steve Wihite says it's pronounced as jif - soft "g". There has been a long battle about the way it's pronounced and I'm not sure it will ever be settled. Most people seem to say jif - probably because that's how the creator has said it's pronounced. I've always used the hard "g" - it just seems more correct to me (and I'm finding it very hard to change! I just don't like saying jif). The Oxford English Dictionary says that both pronunciations are acceptable. So say it any way you like!
