Dude. What kind of guy says the name of his dead sister after having sex with 1) someone that's alive and 2) SOMEONE THAT'S NOT RELATED TO YOU?!

At this point I wish Grant would just come straight out and tell me if George and Shaun were intimate. It seems pretty clear that they were but it's like she's either trying to milk the mystery or actually is hesitant about crossing that incest line, like she's hoping this is still bordering on the unhealthily codependent side of the spectrum and not full-on Flowers in the Attic territory. Maybe that's why she made them not related. That way if they do get their incest on it feels slightly less icky because they have no biological ties. Cept all we hear is that they were siblings so in my brain it's still pretty damn icky.

Becks seems like a nice girl although I'm not sure I'd want a guy who is unable to get with me because he's hung up about his DEAD SISTER. Hallucinations and delusions I can deal with. Dead sister name calling after love-making? Not so much.

I'd rather just go for the Asian dude or pretty much any other dude that's not sitting in a corner talking about himself and brooding. Also. He's totally abusive. He'll just punch you in the face. Like that. I don't give a fuck about girls and boys and who can't punch whom. I'm not getting with a guy who has a strong possibility of punching me in the face just because I happen to mention something about something that might have something to do with his dead sister in passing. He broke Aleric's nose! I mean this is the kind of guy that punches walls to deal with his issues. In real life that's not sexy.

Seriously. I'd be over that shit so fast.

::sigh::

Maybe interpersonal relationships aren't Mira Grant's thing.

We'll see. I'm only a little half-way through. This might resolve itself yet.

Edit: Ok so here's what bothered me about the sex scene. Becks specifically said that she didn't want to go steady, that she didn't want anything. She just wanted to be close to another human being, like intercourse close, because she almost died and that makes a girl totally horny. I can be down with that. Hot guy. I just died sex. Let's do it. And then the next chapter she's all red eyed and everyone's pissed at Shaun and we have some weird ass conversation about how he's sorry for being an asshole and how she's liked him this whole time and bla bla bla bla bla.

Seriously guys? How old are these people? I understand that most humans don't really navigate sexual situations the way I do but it felt a little out of character for Becks to be so emotional. Or maybe her tough girl "I'm going to cut in on every other piece of dialogue" persona is an act for the emotionally delicate lady underneath. The same way Shiny Happy Shaun from Feed was a golden wrapper for the anger management challenged Shaun lurking just beneath the surface.

I'm mostly just disappointed. I'd expect something like this from Maggie or Kelly but I'd hoped Becks was beyond that. I'd hoped that she was one of those girls who said, "I just wanna fuck. No strings attached" and actually meant it. None of that snotty crying shit. Just pure, adult, unbridled penis on vag action. Yeah it was weird that he said George's name after and I'd definitely write the guy off as boyfriend material from that bit of weirdness but it's not like it makes his body out of commission for a good fuck once in a while.

Am I right?

But no. When she said "I don't care" she really meant "I love you and I wish you loved me too." If that's what she wanted she should've straight up said it. Guys, especially this guy, are dumb as rocks and need things spelled out. And girls should be wise enough to deal with the consequences. He'll still fuck you. You decide if you want to open that can of beans or find someone who can provide as much emotional payoff as physical. Personally I would've just walked away. If I was the type of person to be bothered with that kind of thing. It's not worth it to be in love with someone knowing they're hung up about their dead sister to the point of hallucinations and then SEDUCE them into sex anyway. Because that's what she did. From a purely objective stand point Becks came on to Shaun and kept right on going. Of course Shaun could've said no and under supposed unspeakable male/female dynamics when she said "no strings attached" she was lying through her teeth but I think Becks should shoulder the blame for at least half of this fiasco.
