Crowded around a pinball machine for a 5x10 photo shoot the members of Arashi were instructed to "look amused."
"Can I play it?" Aiba asked hopefully.
"Not now. You need coins anyway," their manager stated from the sidelines. Aiba looked crestfallen.
The photographer tsked, “Please don’t frown, Aiba-kun.”
Jun leaned on the machine, sighing his disapproval at the photographer’s lack of direction. “Look guys, we just need to stare at the machine and smile. Okay?”
“That would look stupid,” Nino said from his place on the pinball machine.
“Shut up,” Jun returned. “I want to go home. So let this guy,” he jerked his hand up and pointed with his thumb towards the intimidated photographer “get his pictures.”
Nino sighed and stared at the machine for a moment. “How could they use that picture?”
“Oh! You mean that one of us in our A.RA.SHI outfits?” Aiba asked.
“Ah, I guess this machine is documenting ten years of Arashi, huh,” Sho mused.
They all studied it closer, taking in all the different captures of them over the years.
“Oh, they included something representational of all of us,” Aiba said looking warily at the little kangaroo figure placed in the left corner.
“Ah, there’s a fish,” Ohno said, suddenly looking more interested than he had since they began.
“Eh? What’s mine?” Jun asked curiously, scanning the figurines set upon the targets.
“Ah! I found it!” Sho said, amusement coloring his voice. They all looked to where he pointed at a tiny bottle of nail polish next to his own representational newspaper.
“Eeeeh?!” Jun said in disbelief, everyone else laughing at his expense.
Nino clapped his approval, smugly pointing out the deck of cards representing him and telling Jun that “Even Leader’s fish has more dignity.”
“Look at where the ball would go!” Aiba said excitedly, pointing to where the there was a picture of him with a hole placed directly over his crotch. They all had one.
“What’s with that?” Nino leaned in to get a closer look. “Who designed this thing?!”
They all laughed. Ten years and counting and still never is there a dull moment.
~~~~~~~ Omake ~~~~~~~~
Aiba giggles excessively when he finally gets to play the machine. “I’m aiming for MatsuJun’s hole.”
Sho rubs his temples. “There is no way that can be said without sounding horrible.”
Nino ends up with the highest score. “I’m telling you,” he explains to them seriously,” you get more points if you aim for Leader’s hole.”
“I’m aiming for MatsuJun’s hole.” Oh Aiba. I feel sorry for Sho and his head. “you get more points if you aim for Leader’s hole.” Oh Neeners.
I love you so much for writing this! I was laughing so hard since Riida's fish and Jun's nail polish. And then there's the omake and I'm laughing and loving this all over again. ♥ we need a pinball machine like this everywhere.
