title: just what i always wanted pairing: jun/mao rating/genre: g; fluff words: 687 summary: jun is a compulsive giver.
Something Mao quickly learns about Matsumoto Jun: he is a compulsive giver.
At first, she thought he was just being polite when he had gifts for everyone at the start of the drama. The food he always brought in she also wrote off as a side effect of a generous nature. But then she starts to see a pattern.
She learns not to say things like “Oh, I really wanted a copy of that CD!” or “I loved that sweater I saw at the mall!”, because inevitably, a day or two later, that CD or that sweater will appear, sometimes nicely wrapped and sometimes handed over casually with a barely plausible excuse (“I accidentally bought an extra copy”, “It was for my sister but it turned out she didn’t like that color”).
Those who know Jun, notably Shun, just smile knowingly, but Mao finds it kind of annoying. She doesn’t need Matsumoto Jun buying her things all the time just because he can, because she can’t help feeling like she

The first chance they get that year, Masami drags him off to the beach. Nino doesn't mind; it's a nice warm day, and the sky is a bright, clear blue. It's just that still, after all this time, he feels slightly insecure (even if he won't admit it out loud).
Masami hitches up her dress as she steps into the ocean, water lapping at her ankles. "The water's nice," she tells him, giggling as it splashes up to her knees.
It's probably true. It looks nice. But Nino is paying more attention to her legs, long and slender and perfect.
"Come on," she coaxes, gesturing for him to join her.
Her dress slips out of her hand and she quickly grabs it and pulls it up a little higher this time, exposing more of her legs, and Nino just feels short and stumpy and pale and completely undeserving. They don't fit; he doesn't fit

he knows he never looks as tall as her anyway -- his proportions are all wrong for that LOL Poor Neen. But my sis said Nino doesn't look short the way Ohno is. It must be because of his huge head xD
