Drabble!
Apparently I never shared this short I wrote for myshuno. I am still *slowly* working through them all - hey, maybe I'll be done by NEXT myshuno!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
Four Kids and a Salad
Prompt: "Crisis averted, time for tacos!"
Story: The Krunkles ISBI
Summary: Sour makes a meal for her growing family. Would take place in the next chapter.
Word Count: 289
Sour set the dinner plates down, her entire family waiting expectantly. Serdar fidgeted absent-mindedly, the boys were kicking each other under the table, while Dolly played as referee, and occasionally throwing a kick in as well. Twix was the only one behaving.
“Okay, everyone,” Sour smiled, “Tuck in!”
Everyone looked at the pile of vegetables on the large serving plate, and frowned. Serdar looked at his wife and shook his head.
“Honey, we can’t eat that,”
Sour raised an eyebrow, “Why not? It’s healthy, it’s tasty, and it’s green!”
“Exactly!” Serdar answered, “It’s made from plants! You’re part plant!”
“Me and Rolo are part plant too!” Dolly exclaimed, grinning, “We can’t have the icky salad, either!”
“Dol, you haven’t been plant people since you were tiny,” Sour shook her head, but she had a smile on her face, “It’s okay for me to eat plants, Serdar. Let’s all just tuck in, shall we?”
The table went quiet for a few minutes as each member of the family poked at their greens with their forks. Sour was eating properly, smiling to herself. She no longer had to eat, but she was carrying a baby which did, afterall.
Down the table, Dolly flicked a forkful of wrinkled lettuce leaves at Rhu, who had been delicately lining up his carrots. Rolo grinned at the mischief breaking out, and stole Rhu’s carrots, throwing them at Dolly. It wasn’t long before a food fight broke out at the table.
“Fine!” Sour snapped, getting up, “You don’t have to eat it!”
“Hooray!” Dolly cheered, “Crisis averted!”
“Time for tacos!” Rolo chimed in. Sour sighed, as her husband automatically got up from the table to get the phone. Would she ever have control over this madness?
