After spending a few hours hanging out and drinking beers with the other junior staff members, I've somehow managed to remember that I'd been struck by the beauty and insight of a few sentences in a piece of short fiction entitled "Eternal Love": "Marriage, she thought, was not simply choosing your mate, but the person you wanted to be for the rest of your life. There were other wives Ella could have been. Ella's marriage had shaped her, firmly and precisely, but she could not see the marks of her own evolution; she could not see how the love she gave and took made her what she was."

Also, King Sunny Ade is my favorite new musical discovery. To sleep! (Both satisfied and longing for more.)
