It's christmas.
The day when my family plays the game of "What did I buy and wrap for myself and sign your name on?"
It's an interesting traditional game that's evolved in my family. It started with the inability to figure out what to put on a christmas list, so things that were bought close enough to christmas would be given to another family member to wrap. Then it became a justification for larger purchases throughout the year. As long as they were given to someone else to wrap, it wasn't hard to forget at least some of the things you had bought for yourself. But now gifts are being put away where only the buyer and recipient knows where they are, and consequently has to wrap them for them to end up under the tree. So now we're nearly as interrested in seeing what 'we bought' for others as what they actually bought for us. And the pretense that we're getting gifts is an entertaining joke.
Edit: I forgot the "Hide-and-Seek" and "Hold on, I think santa dropped off a few late gifts upstairs" parts of the game...
