Would I be happy spending 5 months in Istanbul? Or 10 in Warsaw or Budapest or the Netherlands? The first three would be presumably homophobic environments, but I *would* like to learn a new language... Polish or Hungarian might you know turn out to be useful languages to know. I doubt I'd learn Turkish in just 5 months there, although you know, if I worked hard on it beforehand, anyzing iz possible...
