So it's been a bit more than a month since I last updated. Here's what's been going on since then:
* Video Games *
Played through some more of Phantom Brave. Great game, but like Disgaea there are WAAAYYY too many stats to keep track of. Also picked up the Megaman X Collection. I need to get this off my chest:
MEGAMAN X6 IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. If I wanted to play a game where you die for no reason all the time and there are jillions of bullets flying around the screen that you can't dodge, I'd play Battletoads. Seriously, what the fuck. I couldn't even finish the game, it was so bad.
* Classes *
So far, so good. Operating Systems is treating me ok so far, I just took the first test today and I think I did real well. Networking is a bit different from all the rest of my CS classes in that you actually have to do some of the programs at home, i.e. you can't do them on Linux machines. It's kind of a waste of time to go to the class, though, since the professor pretty much teaches right out of the book. Oh, let me get this off my chest too:
DEBUGGING/VERIFYING PROGRAMS IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. Seriously, this class is so bad, I die a little inside every time I go. You know a class is horrible when you start laughing in class because you don't know what the fuck the guy is saying. It's so obvious that the professor doesn't give a shit about the class. That's fine with me, some guys prefer to do research. Don't get me wrong, the guy is real smart, he basically CREATED what we know as linear temporal logic. It's just that he mumbles, doesn't care, shows up 20 minutes late every day, and writes all this crazy stuff on the board that no one gets (at least not anyone that I've talked to.) The reason I signed up for the class is because I needed a writing component class and I heard this was an easy A/B. Unfortunately, the TA for the class is talking the professor into giving us homework. Wow.
Well, enough of that. Lemme talk about my History of Rock and Roll class. I really don't see what all the fuss was about - the class isn't hard at all. I mean, sure I made a 72 on the first test, but I didn't study and I'm going to change it to pass/fail anyways. It's the only class so far in college that I've looked forward to going to. We get to listen to really old music in class, and it's all good music at that.
* Job Search *
Still looking for a job. I just recently got the big "fuck you" from Samsung, but I do have a few other leads at the moment, I'm currently waiting on a response from the U.S. Census Bureau and Schlumberger. I have an interview with Apple tomorrow and with Lockheed Martin next week. God I need a job. My worst nightmare right now is to not have a job ready for me when I graduate. I've just gotta keep looking.
* Life *
Hehe, took my first trip down to 6th a couple of weeks ago with Brent, Sam, Joey and Ryan. Unfortunately I was quite tipsy near the end so I left my car parked in the parking lot underneath the freeway on 7th and spent the night at Brent's apartment. Bad idea. My poor car got towed again, and for the second time I had to go to the towing place and pay 140 bucks to get my car back. I'm not gonna outright say it was worth it, but I had a lot of fun and I certainly wouldn't mind doing it again....
I also took a Harmonica class through the UT Informal classes thingamabob. I am proud to say I can play the Star Spangled Banner and Jingle Bells. I can bend any note in hole 6 or lower (the guy didn't get to bending holes 7-10), which is really all you need to play a decent blues lick. Now all I need is a jug, a washboard and a banjo and my redneck band will be complete.
That's all I can remember off the top of my head. Dustin out.....
