Author's Note: Wow, this took me so long and I apologize for that. For some reason I kept struggling with this chapter for the longest time. It's hard to say why exactly, that definitely wasn't the lack of inspiration ir ideas for sure, mostly it was insecurity how to tug at the corners of your hearts and make sense at the same time. I hope I've succeeded. As requested I told a little bit more about the bathroom. You're very much welcome, Kimmy. ;D Hope you like it. Reviews are welcomed, loved and greatly appreciated. :) Enjoy!
Disclaimer: This story is not real, it's fiction. I don't know Scott, Tessa, their families and friends personally. Everything what you are going to read is my pure imagination.
Chapter number 6 - Chances.
It was new and exciting. Those two nights spent together had opened a whole new world. They had touched each other million times before - gentle caresses, hand holding, pats on the knee, tight hugs, comforting cuddles - they had grown up with all that. Touches like that were familiar and comforting; they were part of their being, who they really were. This time, however, the touches were different - new and unknown. Exploration that was what it was. Carefully and slowly they were working on getting to know each other in a completely different way - a way they didn’t even dare to think about not that long ago.
Suddenly they were not the same anymore - Scott had realized that much during the past week or so. If he was once able to read Tessa like an open book then now he simply couldn't calculate what her next step would be. She was like a mystery to him, yet so familiar and so his because no matter what he knew her better than anyone else. If at first it had been all about making Tessa smile and making sure that she was happy, safe and sound, then now it was all about her cries and kisses. They were like a drug, she herself was like a drug and he was addicted.
“Scott...” His name left her lips in a breathless moan which caused him to lift up his head from the crook of her neck to look at her. The brunette beauty in front of him took his breath away. He had never seen her that beautiful and vulnerable before. Some loose strands of her dark brunette hair were sticking to her now sweaty forehead, her cheeks flushed a bright pink color, her big beautiful eyes closed, head lolled back against the wall, exposing her neck.
“Yeah?” It came out hoarse and shaky, and not the way he had wanted, but it was the smallest of their worries at the moment.
“I lied,” Tessa murmured as she tried to free her hands which Scott held firmly above her head. “I don’t regret a thing. God, those two nights were the best nights of my life.” Her eyes opened slowly, wanting to see Scott’s reaction to her words, but his expression was blank. He just stared at her for what seemed like forever until...his hands loosened their grip on her wrists and Tessa’s arms fell down along her sides.
“Are you serious?” It was a mere whisper, but Tessa swore that she could hear his voice crack. The sudden wetness in the corner of his eyes was the only proof that she had been right. Tessa reached out and dried it with her thumb.
“Yes, I...”
Apparently he didn’t need any more explanations as he silenced her with his lips on hers, and Tessa surrendered gladly. His hand sunk in her silky hair as he pulled lightly. Getting the hint, Tessa let her head fall back against the wall once again, giving him full access to her neck which he accepted gladly. Both her hands gripping on his shoulders, nails digging in the flesh, leaving marks. Another, this time louder than before, moan left her parted lips which made Scott immediately stop and look up at her once again.
“Shhh, be quiet. Can’t let them hear us, can we?” Scott scolded her lovingly as he captured her lips with his own once again.
About half an hour later both Canadians found themselves still in the bathroom, but only this time they were holding onto each other for their dear lives, supporting each other as they were trying to stay on their own feet. Tessa didn’t know who was steadying who, was it her who was trying to hold Scott on his feet, or was it the other way around. There was only one thing that was as clear as the summer day - she wanted to hold him like this forever. Cradling her taller male partner against her chest, the petite brunette let out a sigh of satisfaction - that was how things were supposed to be. Scott, still breathing heavily, let his head fall on her shoulder, his lips leaving her neck where they were already missed. His large hands tightened their grip on Tessa’s petite waist, and Tessa let out a soft moan.
“I can’t believe we actually did that,” she was the first one to speak as she let the fingers of her right hand sink into Scott’s messy, dark locks. Her eyes fluttered closed, savoring the moment, the fingers of her left hand drawing swirl patterns on Scott’s bare back. Now it was his turn to sigh with contentment as he finally managed to lift his head up and look at Tessa. She was beautiful. Her cheeks were flushed, her breathing still faster than normal, lips swollen from his endless kisses. A small smile appeared on his lips as Scott started to play with the loose strand of her hair, twirling it around his finger. Her perfect bun was messed up, and oh, how Tessa would worry. Her eyes slowly opened and finally they came face to face with each other. For a moment they simply stared at each other, silence enveloping them. Their hands caressing each other’s faces, lips shedding chaste kisses everywhere they could reach and then...knock, knock.
“Scott, Tessa, are you in there?” Alma’s voice made them both freeze and turn their heads to stare at the locked door where behind the door was standing Scott’s mother.
“Shit,” Scott cursed quietly, and Tessa slapped his arm lightly.
“Be quiet,” his best friend scolded, and Scott immediately turned to look at her again. How messed up this situation actually was? Very! They weren’t supposed to be having sex in the bathroom at his family dinner when his girlfriend and parents as well as his brothers were downstairs chatting and laughing. Tessa seemed to sense his mood, and she took his face in her both hands, forcing him to look at her.
“It will be fine,” she assured softly, brushing her warm lips against his, causing him to shiver. It was ridiculous and unfair how she affected him. The mere touch made him shiver, the briefest of kisses made him crave for more, her presence alone turned him on so much he was ready to explode.
“Scott?!”
Sighing, Scott finally let go of Tessa and took a step back. She was still leaning against the wall, but she would be just fine, it didn’t look like her legs were going to give in anymore.
“Yes, mom,” his voice was hoarse and cracked when he finally spoke.
“Honey, what are you doing there?”
Scott’s gaze rested upon Tessa who was busy fixing her dress. At this point she had already managed to pull it down over her thighs and now was working on covering her upper body, but the dress stubbornly stayed wrapped around her waist. Scott coughed, catching Tessa’s attention.
“Get dressed,” she ordered softly, and Scott nodded.
“I...well I was thinking,” Scott said loud enough for his mother to hear as he bent down to pick up his sweater and shirt that were lying on the floor.
“Is Tessa with you?”
“Yes,” it was Tessa's weak voice that replied to Alma’s question this time.
“Alright, I have no idea what you both are doing there, but I have a feeling that I really don’t want to know. Jess and Fedor as well as all the others have been looking for you. You better come downstairs and before you do - think of a good explanation.” The next thing they both heard was footsteps that was a sign - Alma had left.
“What are we going to say?” Tessa asked quietly to which Scott just shrugged. He had no idea, but they better think of something really good.
“We will think of something,” he assured his best friend as they both hurried to get dressed and presentable. The last thing they needed was someone to get suspicious about their sudden disappearance. It was their secret and no one needed to know.
Fifteen minutes later.
It had taken them only 10 minutes to get dressed and prepare themselves to go downstairs and face everyone. Now that they had finally joined Scott’s family, Jessica and Fedor downstairs with regret they discovered that his brothers and their other halves were already getting ready to leave.
“Do you really have to go? It’s still early,” Scott said quietly, joining his brothers in the hallway, Tessa following him one step behind.
“Yes, if you had been here all night not somewhere upstairs then you would have noticed that it’s getting late,” Charlie commented, turning his attention to his mother who was handing him a paper bag with some leftovers from the dinner.
“Packed some cake for you two.”
Scott watched as his mother cooed over his two older brothers. Apparently it didn’t matter how old they were, she would always think of them as her little boys. Suddenly the feel of two warm arms sliding around his waist made Scott jump.
“You are very jumpy tonight,” commented soft voice in his ear, and Scott immediately relaxed against Jessica, who was hugging him tightly from behind. Resting his both hands on top of Jessica’s, Scott sighed. At least she wasn’t here to judge him or anything.
Jessica placed a gentle kiss on the side of his face and rested her chin on his shoulder, “Where were you?”
“Upstairs,” Scott’s reply was simple and short.
“Why?”
“Remember that Tessa wanted to talk about something earlier tonight? We didn’t get a chance to finish our conversation because mom called us downstairs for the dinner. We finished it now.”
Scott felt her nod her head as she squeezed him a little bit more, “Okay.” She believed him.
“Are you alright, man?” A familiar male voice made Scott turn his head and he came face to face with Fedor.
“I’m fine,” he said through gritted teeth, but Fedor simply grinned at him as he took his hand and squeezed a glass of wine in it.
“Thought so. Here, some booze,” with that he turned around and marched over to Tessa who was standing in the corner. Scott watched as he handed her a glass of wine as well, and Tessa accepted it thankfully, giving him one of her sweetest smiles. And he thought that smiles like that were for him and him alone. Sighing once again, Scott raised his glass and took a large gulp.
“Damn, Scotty, you look freshly shagged.” Danny’s loud voice echoed in the suddenly silent hallway, causing Scott to spit out his drink. Suddenly everyone was looking at him with questioning and curious gazes until Tessa coughed in the corner. All eyes wandered over to Tessa who was wiping her mouth with a napkin and Fedor was rubbing her back. Apparently she had been drinking too when Danny had called out his ridiculous statement. Scott held his breath, waiting for someone to say or do something, anything, but nothing happened until...
“Dan, you’re right. If I didn’t know better then I would think that these two had shagging session upstairs,” Charlie finally broke the silence causing everyone to laugh, everyone except Tessa and Scott.
A loving arm rubbing his back in small circles caught Scott’s attention, and he turned to look at Jessica who was now standing next to him.
“Babe, breathe, otherwise you are starting to turn purple,” she said half jokingly, half serious, and Scott finally let out a breath he had been holding.
“Kids stop this,” Scott’s father always had the last word, and this time just like many times before, he was ending a conversation that was simply ridiculous.
“Jess, honey, can you help me in the kitchen a little bit?”
In silence Scott watched dumbstruck as his mother led his girlfriend away. Her arm wrapped protectively around Jessica’s petite waist as she lovingly smoothed Jessica’s dark brown hair. It hurt to see his mother lead Jessica away with only one purpose - to protect her from him.
“Tess and Fedor, you will stay here tonight.” Alma said in a voice that sounded more as statement than question. She wouldn’t take no as an answer, and it was clear that everything had been already decided - Tessa and Fedor would spend the night at The Moirs’ house.
Taking a look around himself Scott concluded that nobody really wanted him there. Tessa and Fedor were in a deep conversation, his mother had taken Jessica away from him and his father was chatting to Charlie, Danny and their other halves, when it came to Scott suddenly he felt completely alone in the house full of people. With one swift movement Scott downed his wine and disappeared in the dining room. A bottle of wine was still on the table, and he took it without a second thought. Placing his empty glass on the table, Scott took a large swing from the bottle, he would prefer something stronger than just wine, but the wine would have to do for now. Armed with wine and one piece of his mother’s fruit cake that he had found still served on the table Scott went upstairs, leaving everyone else behind, not even bothering to say goodbye to his brothers.
