Spring Trip 05!!!

Apr 19, 2005 07:34

Well, I have to say that spring trip is one of the events that i most look forward to in the school year. All year i wait until this glorious time in april, when all the band kids pile onto buses and go to the vacation spot of mr fischer's choosing. In my three years at river hill, we've been to orlando, myrtle beach, and now virginia beach. Spring trip has ALWAYS been a fantastic experience, whether we're filming the battle scene from macbeth on the beach, or animating crawfish, or making obscene gestures at the roller coaster cameras...the list goes on and on.

We all got up early on thursday morning, and gathered in the auditorium to prepare for boarding. After finishing some coffee that amy brought me, i dragged bernie into the auditorium so he would collect everyone's jazz folders lol....and joe showed off his sexy orange yamaca. btw, he's catholic. In any case, all the cool kids got on bus 1, and we all took up positions in the rear of the bus. While the loading crew was...loading, I strategically deployed the "NO POOPING" signs all over the bus. Total we had 8 signs around the bus, including one on the toilet seat lol. Of course the no pooping signs had the obligatory red duct tape and maltese cross. As photo documentation proves, the signs were also endorsed by mrs land and mr fischer lol.

The bus trip up was fun, joe and i stopped at waffle house for lunch, upholding the tradition. Nobody else went lol, but joe and i ran all the way to the waffle house, and then pretended we were from vermont. It was pretty sweet. Inspired by anchorman, i ordered steak and eggs and waffles. Joe got an omelette and grits lol. We have some pictures depicting the grits experience. I tried them too, they weren't very good. Crazy southerners. Speaking of crazy southerners, the ugly waitress was hitting on me. Bitch...

Then we returned to the buses and went to our hotels. We stayed in the hotel for a while playing poker (i made $5 yay) before the dinner cruise of doom. It was cold, and the food was less than satisfactory. It also sucked that i had to go to the bathroom with frozen hands a few times, cuz the cold made aiming a little less pleasant.

The next day was our day of performances. The jazz band started off well, probably our best performance ever, including a solo by me that ended on a quasi-F, as it shall be known (it was actually an Eb). It was pretty sexy. Then the choir performed, and then we had lunch. Or maybe we ate first, i don't really remember. Amy, Ryan and I ate at Uno's, and we all had delicious pizzas, although we were slightly late for role call. The choir concert was fun, esp cuz rhea accompanied them (woot). After that we had dinner, which sucked, and then had the band/orchestra concerts. They went ok; i was really proud of all my solo lines, but the high stuff on olympiada was not so great, probably cuz i didn't warm up w/ any upper register stuff. But thats just boring details. The ensemble itself did a good job, receiving a I (so did the jazz band). The next day, we went to busch gardens for a chance to relax. It was a blast, even though it was on the cold side. The first roller coaster we rode was apollo's chariot, where we took a very amusing ride photo. So amusing in fact, rhea and I actually purchased it. Ask me if you want to see it, its hard not to laugh lol. We ate at the festhaus, which was this giant german hall, where the food was insanely expensive. However, we got to see a polka band play and german dancers dance to it. Angela had fun with all the interactive stuff, screaming "HOY HOY HOY" and "EOIAIEIOAOOAAA" at the command of the dancers. She also got to dance with one of the lederhosen-clad men. By the way, at some point on this trip, we nicknamed her Count Scrotchula.

Then we ate dinner, which was bad, and had awards, where it was insanely cold. We stopped by the festhaus on the way and got some hot coffee to pull us through. After awards, we went back to the hotel. We played poker until 2 in the morning, and i lost ten bucks :( Nobody was getting any good hands. There was one flush, and one three of a kind, and i think everything else was one or two pair. There were a few high card hands. It was pathetic, but we drank a lot of soda lol.

The next day we packed and left, but not before i spilled coffee on my socks. We ate at subway on the way back, and finally we returned to school. The good times never last...

I did take pictures, and as they say, a picture is worth 1000 words. And since i have 69 posted, thats about 69000 words. wow. I love spring trip!

Yesterday i went to the mall with amy to do prom shopping, and it actually turned out to be more fun than i thought it'd be. We were pretty efficient too, getting shoes and a bag and all this other stuff in like an hour and a half maybe? I can't wait until prom, its gonna rock.

Well anyway, make sure you look at my new pics: http://community.webshots.com/user/kazoomadness2

I love you all
