Thursday afternoon found Minako at the busy train station looking for the tall dark haired American. She liked Ken; he always called her ma’am and held the door open for her and his accent was absolutely adorable. It wouldn’t be too hard to spot him, he was taller than most people, but Minako still searched the crowd intently. A teasing voice interrupted her search however.
“Hey Goldie Locks, you’re late.” Minako felt her face heat up when she turned to face the person.
“M-Mako-chan. What are doing here?”
Makoto quickly gave Minako a once over. She did look a little flushed. Thinking that she might be sick Makoto pressed the back of her hand against Minako’s forehead.
“Hmm. You don’t seem to be running a fever. Don’t tell me you forgot.” Makoto groaned as Minako’s blank stare turned into a dazzling grin. She slapped her hand against her head.
“You did forget. Wait, why are you here then if you forgot you were supposed to give me a ride home?”
Minako could have slapped herself. She remembered now; Ami dropped Makoto off at the train station early this morning on her way to see her father, Minako was supposed to pick Makoto up. It was lucky that she had to be here to pick up Ken.
“Um, it’s a funny story really.” She laughed nervously.
“It’s ok. Here, you can at least help carry some of these bags to the car.”
Minako took the offered bag hesitantly.
“About that. You see I’m kinda supposed to pick up Takehiko’s friend, Ken. He should be here any moment!”
Minako smiled and hoped that her own friend wouldn’t be too offended. Any effort on her part, however, was being completely ignored. Minako’s grin faded, she recognized that starry look. She turned around and tried to figure out which cute guy had caught her friend’s attention this time. Before she was able to pin point the guy out Makoto grabbed her shoulders and forcibly turned her around.
“Don’t look, he’s walking this way!” Makoto hissed before reaching up to pat her hair, “How’s my hair look?”
“What? Who?” Minako tried to look over her shoulders but Makoto gave her a quick shake.
“Don’t look! Oh no, too late. Quick, act natural.”
By the time that Minako was able to get out of Makoto’s grip the man had already made his way up to them. Dark, wavy hair and warm brown eyes that would make any woman melt met her gaze. Minako grinned.
“Oh, hi Ken! How was your trip?” He smiled warmly at Minako, his eyes briefly glancing over at Makoto.
“Not too bad, Ma’am. Got a little lost on my way to the ferry though.”
Minako grinned up at the man. He was taller than Mamoru but not as tall as Takehiko. And once more, she caught his gaze traveling to Makoto.
“Ken I told you to call me Minako. Now come on, Mako-chan’s got stuff that needs to get in the fridge soon.”
If Makoto or Ken were uncomfortable at all in the car, Minako didn’t notice. If she had been paying attention she would have noticed Makoto’s eyes glance to the mirror where she had a great view of Ken’s face. Perhaps she also would have noticed that the light was red and not have gotten pulled over, again.
