Last night I purposely messed up my sleeping schedule one night before I needed to get to bed at a decent hour so I could get up for work. I hate messing up my schedule because it takes forever to get back on track and I always feel a bit off until it's back to normal. But last night was totally worth it.
Last night, Ashes, Lauren, Nwogu, Jenika, Jake and I saw the 10:45 showing of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. It was awesome and not becasue I saw Lauren and Nwogu for the first time in ages and Jenika for the first time since graduation. The movie was awesome, too. It wasn't quite as good as the original, but then again, Prince Caspian the book isn't as good as The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe book either. They took a few more liberties with the plot in the first one. If you want to know the main ones I noticed, click
First off, what was with the whole romance between Susan and Caspian. These books aren't romance books, unless you're talking about the ultimate love story between God and man.
They also added battle scenes. In the book, Peter and Caspian's uncle fight, Peter wins, the Telemarins (?) are getting ready to attack, but Aslan suddenly shows up and scares them away (at least, that's how I remember it). There wasn't a huge, drawn-out battle scene but I must admit, the trees are awesome!
And they don't try to assult the castle the Telemarins are staying in, either. That sequence was unnessesary and probably added to make the movie longer so it'd match the first one in length.
The other big one was Aslan. He doesn't show up until the very end in the movie, but he has more appearances than that. It must be said, though, than anything important he said or did was in there, just later.
There were a few more minor changes (including Caspian and Peter not getting along and Peter not actually killing Caspian's uncle...), but nothing else that screamed at me. But then, I haven't read the book in a while. I'm sure if I had read the book right before the movie, I would have noticed a lot more.
Anyway, it was tons of fun, although I didn't get home until 2:30ish due to the distance between home and the theater. And then when I got home, I had a panic moment becasue I thought I'd lost my phone, but it had just fallen out of my purse in the car.
