I was really depressed at work today. Really, really. But luckily when I got home I did not post on LJ but instead went directly to the gym! I got there by like 6:45, which is really good for me. Did 34 minutes on the elliptical--3 miles in 30:30, then cooled down for another 1/4 mile. I really needed to run, it felt good. I was watching The ( Read more... )

That's awesome about the headstand before. Those make me nervous. And I totally can't do a cartwheel either. Why aren't you renewing your gym membership? Are you just going to do yoga?

Because it's a yearly membership commitment, and I don't know where F and I will be living four months from now. It depends on where F gets a job--if he gets a job downtown, that would be ideal, because we could live anywhere and both have the same commute, but if he's somewhere in the 'burbs, we'll need to move closer to his work. So I don't want to sign another yearly contract with my gym. (They have shorter term contracts, but the monthly rates are higher, and I think that's ridiculous and I can't afford it.)

If F and I stay in this area, I will be more than happy to start up with this gym again--it's a really nice place. But I think this break will be a good opportunity for me to explore some yoga studios with the money that usually goes into my monthly gym membership. So that's the plan right now.

Oh, now I remember. That makes sense. I know some gyms will let you out of your membership if you move a certain distance, but the number I've heard is 50 miles, and sometimes you're closer than that, but the gym is still inconvenient. So this sounds like a good plan. Have fun with the extra yoga!

I think when I joined, they said 20 miles, but still. We could be living over in, say, Chester County, on the other side of the city and other side of the river, and still be within 20 miles of the gym, but that would be well over an hour's drive away just because of where the roads and bridges go. It'd be ridiculous. So I'd rather wait and see.
